Vanguard or LOTRO

JaffieJaffie Member Posts: 20

I have both. I haven't played either in a long (long) time.

I'd like to re sub one. A 15.00 monthly sub doesn't matter.

I'd love an immersive world and good community. Recently I was reading some posts about how Vanguard was many people's ideal PVE MMO other than the fact that it's empty. Seeing as how there are so many negative reviews of every game out there I thought it was unusual to see so much good said about one game.

I'm ready to throw my hat in the Vanguard ring and pay for a sub if there is a case to be made for it.

I'm could just as easily probably be swayed to re-trying LOTRO.

Any thoughts...

Played both.. with all the trouble at SoE lately not sure if you will be able to get into Vanguard.

If you can though, of the two I'd go VG because it is a bigger world, lot of stuff to do even despite the low population. It is still a great pve experience if you are willing to give it a chance. Lotro has become a grindfest in my opinion.. still decent but nothing really different from any other average cash shop mmo out there

Don't bother paying for any.  If you've played Vanguard beforelike you said you have, you have 45 free days (now 43) on your account due to the Sony fiasco.  Enjoy.  :)

It's even better, it's 45 days from the first time you login to the game as long as it's before August 31st so it hasn't started counting down yet.

Also I recommend Vanguard, hopefully this free time promotion will bring a little influx in players.

slightlyoff topic but, the vanguard site doesnt load at all. google it nothing appears, go to the offical soe site click games, find vanguard click offical site for that, just gets to empty white page with an error, anyone able to log in game or is everything down?

I can login to the game and the website loads for me in the US.  Might be that your ISP or the UK haven't gotten the updated DNS info of the site, or that they aren't ready in the UK if it's a different server.  It was gone from Google for me while all of Sony was down but it's back now.

http://vgplayers.station.sony.com/ This site at least, I heard the trial site might gone.  The trial page doesn't seem to work so you'd have to use Station Launcher for that I guess.

If you miss Vanguard you have until August to jump back in.  I can see a few people jumping back in, including me and a few friends.  But when the free time is up, we are gone.

Vanguard is a good game, lots of content, some story depth if you go hunting for it.  If you don't like diplomacy you lose almost half the content.  Then there is the lack of new development, SOE terminated all development of new content quite a while back.

As for LOTRO, It is still being worked on with new content and quests being introduced every few weeks.  Why do I have to buy a riding skill?

If you like the standard MMO fare, LotRO.  If you want something that is different Vanguard.
