Didn't realize he helped develop Lineage.. Don't know if I like that or not.

I've given eastern style MMO's a lot of chances and have always been disappointed.

Same here.  I have a fear that Jake Song is Asia's answer to Brad McQuaid.  Still, what I'm seeing so far looks very attractive.  I'm keeping my eyes open.

I understand it is supposed to be very sandboxlike.. my only concern is that if the end game is not driven by PvE content, how will they make PvP worthwhile?

Shadowbane for example had many mechanics in place that encouraged PvP to happen. Their mine and bane system was genius. The defending guild got to decide when they wanted to defend their property, and that time was displayed on the entire world map for everyone. So if you wanted PVP, or wanted to earn the spoils from a victory, you knew where to go.

I just don't want all of the PvP to be random gankings like UO or prescribed zones like Hillsbrad Foothill PvP in WoW before battlegrounds that meant nothing.

I also don't want most of the PvP to be instanced.
