Well Can't really sue a game company that says that they own the Data, and all rights to the game and can terminate your account at any time, unless of course you file a lawsuit saying something like.

    1. The game has caused an impact on your mental health, or lost time, and  you had no warning which anyone could do to any game as when I signed up for wow I never saw any warning that the game could be so addicting on their box or in their EULA.

    2. You were not Required to accept an EULA when the game first came out, or they changed the TERMS, although this is rare you can use this.

    3. Need proof of these claims, and you could always ask a lawyer they know more than I do.

    4. Otherwise Blizzard will claim in a court that it is their right to ruin their business any way they please just as any other company would which is true, but personally I would just Boycott the company I hate, go to a website like RIP-OFF Reports and report their company annonymously, as well as maybe reports with the BBB and being pissed off, and simply unsubscribe because thats almost all your can do unless stated above, but hey information is free yo, and dont feed Blizzard anymore money becuase they dont need it, and I am not paying a thing to blizzard again period until they hire the right developers and fix their outdated MMO which they ruined...

lets say i do a random dungeon finder, and my friend from another server,  by chance, happens to also get this instance, so we are both here now, will they SEND ME A FUCKING BILL FOR PLAYING WITH MY FRIEND????ARRRRRRRRRRRRR.

lol sorry im actually quite upset and fear this could be implemented in every other new mmo, god i hope not, i see it as paying for the same content TWICE, its like: hey we have this mmo (MASSIVELY MULTIPLAYER ONLINE) pay us

15EURO a month to play it BUT if you want to play it with REAL LIFE FRIENDS PAY FUCKING 30 EURO DUMB CUNT.

    cant anyone see this??

If enough people make enough noise blizzard will change one thing they do is listen to their community but only if enough of them make enough noise.

  • RenoakuRenoaku Member EpicPosts: 3,157

I laugh hard because I can understand the outrage over this game I mean I have played wow for 3 years maybe more not sure exactly, and I have played NC Soft games for quite some time before they screwed over all the games with Micro Transactions so I can understand the anger at blizzard for this and think that what they do is not right.

All I can say is go all over the Internet and post your anger elsewhere but without Foul Language, and on Blizzards forums maybe they will listen when enough complain about it because if I were still playing wow too I would complain on their boards.

As for servers & Shards, I have an Idea, Merge all the servers like Guild Wars did, and allow people to cross servers have everyone required to Pick a Last name or something like Guild Wars, or DarkFall that way everyone has their own unique user name, or last name, and you can go into any server you want to and play with any friends you want to, Meh that works dont it?

However please keep the Language down on here before yall get into any troubles, and remember that Teens use this board too 13+, Kthx.

Indeed they will keep pushing it as far as they are able to. After all, they're in it for the money, ethics be damned. And not only Blizzard, of course.

All things of this sort will become accepted, especially by newer generations of gamers who won't know any better. It has already begun.

    1.  Yes, it will cost extra by the wording they used.  They used the same wording for everything else in their store.  There is also only the one subscription level.  Unless they change that too...

    2.  As for legality, I have no idea.  But, most ToS that we "accept" don't hold water in courts.

    3.  If enough people will pay for this, they will stay on this path and ramp it up.  They won't stop anything that makes them money.

    4.  The only way to combat this is with your wallet.  Remember when RealID came out?  With all the people that temp cancelled over that, all they did was change it up some and put it in game anyway.  They don't even default it to off.  If not paying for this does not keep it from entering game, you are left with one choice.  You stop paying them at all.  If they keep it up with just enough people paying for this stuff, you again vote with your wallet and don't buy their other games.  Only when the loss is big enough will they stop.  But, as has been shown before, will it be a permanent stop or just another delay?

    5.  They can all they want about Activision not having any effect on them, but their actions show the truth.  Look at the changes since they merged.  Look at the leaks about the new Call of Duty.  Look at all the maps.  Most are already pointing out that some of those maps already made will end up a DLC.  Why?  Because they can do that when people keep paying for it.  Look at starcraft being sold in episodes.  It's just the beginning.

    6.  If you are really upset by this, vote with the only thing they listen to.  Money.  If you don't care and wish to pay, that is your choice.  Do what is right for you.  But, you know where this slope leads.

The other part to consider in this is, they could have saved this for the next expansion.  A one time fee with other content, levels, etc.  Instead, they want that money now and probably from a reoccurring fee.

This feature would be awesome, to play with RL friends on other servers. But asking money for it? No, people pay already a sub for this game. This should be a part of the service you get.

Aside form the whole "charging for it" issue, doesn't soemthing like this further abstract server boundaries and turn WoW into more of the "lobby" style game? Log in, group up with friends, teleport with dungeon. If this were extended to Real ID Rated BG/Arena teams, then the it would start to seem even more "lobby-like". The only thing left that would be server specific would be questing and open-world PvP (ok, ok...just Tol Barad :P ).

I'll leave it up to others whether that's a good/bad/indifferent thing, but jsut something that occured to me as the "lobby" characterization seems to come up in various threads.

To all the people who defend cash shops and real money transactions, because they were only fluff and didn't impact gameplay.  You were told things like this would happen, so please do not complain about it.

This is what happens when you condone businesses to charge additional fees for services they were already rendering.

  • chiksochikso Member Posts: 150

Well, honestly, I justified everything blizzard did so far in one way or another; vanity shop, server transfer, faction change, name change, authenticators, but this is something that should definitely be included in the subscription and the first outright greedy move on their part that cannot be denied by anyone. Just too obvious really.

Yea. After a "merger" with Activision their already shitty treatment of customers instantly got worse with the opt-out RealID fiasco.

I canceled my long running sub then and will never give Blizzard another nickel and I was buying their games when Blackthorne came on 3.5" floppy disks. I have not played SC2 and have no interest in D3 because of the way they are now. RIP Blizzard.

Still the cheapest entertainment for whole month. Not that i am going to use it because i have my friends on same server. But i do not see what is the big deal here. ;)

Good plan... unless you ever meet someone else from a different realm through the dungeon finder and want to group with them again in the future.

I have not played WoW in a long time and will not again. The most important reasons not being the downward slide of Blizzard as noted by the OP. But I hate to see such decline into sheer money-based business rather than purposing to provide customer-centric products and services.

    Too bad.

I really don't see how this is an attractive feature that people needed. If you truly had real life friends on other realms I doubt it would take that long to transfer to that realm.

When I played I had friends on other realms we all made a decision pretty quick to transfer to a common server. I guess some people are just weird with their servers...

The technology is there, they just want to make a profit any way they can.

To be fair they do offer a free phone based authenticator. Also the price they charge for the dongles is barely over cost for those devices. Authenticators are not a big money maker for them.

I'm not playing WoW at the moment, i'm kind of bored with it right now and i don't think Cata was a very good expansion, but with that being said I did play it for years and I have to say that one of the things that kept me playing that long was all the free content they gave me.

This premium based service is kinda lame if you ask me, it's one of those things that sounds awesome on paper but how many people would actually use it, or purchase it?  I think most people play on a server where their friends are, that's kind of why they play on it in the first place.  This is also something that if they never said they had the service, almost no one would have cared any more or less about it.

So if they want to charge for it i'm fine with that since it's not crucial to gameplay and I'm thinking a very small percent of people would make use of it anyway.  Id rather they try to charge for off the wall perks like this and vanity pets, than charge me $5 every time a new content patch comes out like how some companies have tried to do.  If you don't like the idea of paying for this service, than don't pay for it.  If nothing else if no one signs up for it, they won't be so quick to try to develop useless tech  with their development dollars anyway.  They will be more likely to use that money for game content which is what i want to see.

Blizzard didn't "come up with the idea" in this case.  It was a commonly requested feature on the WoW forums.  Blizzard execs simply saw enough interest through their dollar sign colored glasses that they felt they could make a cash grab to negate the sting of lost subs.

I can only hope that GW2 will show that MMO's can be hugely successful without having to resort to a P2P+cash shop+paid additional services scheme with the weak excuse that "it's needed to keep the servers going and fund development"

Activision and blizzard are the same, there is no, this is because of activision. Don't be that naive.

I've been on and off wow the past years, but this is the end for me for sure. Disgusting game and company.
