Defective Silver Dye?!

I bought silver dye off someone (nearly made me broke) and I put it on my vest. In the vest logo, it looks silver but when I wear it it still looks brown. Here's a screenshot:
Edit: screenshot won't show up, I guess I can't do it off my program files...
Still, does anyone know what the heck happened?

Did the color say "silver" or "mixed"?
Yes sometimes the result isnt all that great/noticeable.

Have you previously dyed your vest?? If you have previously dyed your armor before. It is best to use Dye remover first, then apply the new dye that you want.
If you had a previous dye on the armor without removing it, adding another dye will just mix it together.
Also be sure to check, be sure it says Silver dye, not Mixed dye. Sometimes they look like Silver Dye but is actually mixed dye. Mixed dye can be almost any colour.
When I had dyed me armor silver...R/Me(Female)...Leather armor...the left side of my vest was silver and the right side didnt change. The leggings(sort of skirt) only had the inner part and edges silver...the leggings themselves where totally silver. So the conclusion is, that depending on the armor, only certain parts will change color but in the picture of the armor its fully silver.

Hehe, yeah, I was really disappointed when I dyed my fist piece of armor because the change was hardly noticable...
