Do random dungeons exist anymore?

WT_KailWT_Kail Member Posts: 7

As my title says I'm looking for a game (MMO, SP w/ Multi option, whatever) where you delve into a randomized dungeon for loot, come back to town, sell it/trade it and repeat.

If anyone remembers Dungeon Runners I LOVED that game! Recently I tried Mythos, but the character classes are kind of bland. I know TL2 is coming soon and I can't wait for that, hoping to have something to play in the meantime.

Thanks!

I've been wanting this for a while now :P Just something a couple friends and I can do that's completely random, not just mashing through the same thing over and over as found in most MMO's. A couple games that might be close to the formula are Dungeon Siege 3 (due out in the next month?) and Dungeons & Dragons: Daggerdale. From what I've read, D&D:D is similar to the older hack n' slash games Dark Alliance.

I do think Runescape has a random dungeon feature - although I couldn't stomach the game enough to find out :P

Try out Spiral Knights. It's a F2P game that's centered around dungeon-crawling and crafting. The theme has a lot of old school flavor, drawing from games like Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past and Phantasy Star. You can group, or go solo; guilds are abound and they recently implemented an auction house.

In regards to the real-money side, you only pay money for Crystal Energy (CE) so you can play mor than your daily allotment of energy would normally allow, or craft more items than normal. I personally only bought energy once in my time there to see how I liked the added resources, but you never have to pay a cent to be competitive. In fact, they just adjusted in-game currency prices to make it more friendly to all kinds of players.

The game teaches you everything you need to know, and the rest is dungeoneering fun. Give it a shot. =)

Are there classes in Spiral Knights?  I went to their website and browsed the Wikki, but did not see anything about classes.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

There are no classes, really. Your character is defined by the weapons and armor you equip. At it's core, there are three weapon groups to choose from, all with variants: Swords, Guns, and Bombs. You have two weapon slots so you can swap between weapons on the fly, but you can purchase additional ones for a time with CE.

Wait for Diablo 3, that is, if it really ever comes out. I feel a "SC:Ghost" trolling by blizzard coming on with D3 now that Titan is in the works..

You could try Shin Megami Tensei online-all the dungeons are randomized, with difficulty dependant on what type of entrance "key" you take.  There are no classes, but you can specialize into either Melee, Ranged, or Magic combat, and you also have a huge variety of tameable pets that you can fuse to create even better ones.  Definitely worth a try.

Darkfalls dungeons are like that if you survive long enough in them.

The definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.

I played this way back when, but will definitely check it out again. How's the community and how dependant on the item mall is it?
