Horrible. Another Korean whatever mmo. Just because you will be able to build whatever and theres no classes, the game if shipped to NA in that form will not garner many subs. I ve played alot of the free to play grinders and this one doesn't look any different.

C'mon man, you're smarter than this. There is too much info out there about AA for your comment t have any credence.
Look at the bright side, when AA shows that people are tired of theme parks and want off the tracks to a hybrid system maybe they'll make a Star Wars themed one.

Some kind of troll attempt, cool dude.
No, not a troll attempt, just my opinion. That truthfully looked horrible. Don't get me wrong, i love the sandbox concept they are trying to do with this game, but no amount of virtual world freedom will be enough if the games combat and characters look like that. The combat reminded me of Requim and thats pretty bad. It does look like the typical asian game that will rely heavily on the anima style alot and i just don't think even though the sandbox crowd is all up in arms for this game will be what they are truthfully looking for.

You're right in that the animations did not flow with one another but that was not the point of the video. The point of the video was to show the combinations of abilities and how they work together. The problem I have with both of your responses is that they scream you have read nothing on the details of the game but yet you call it "Another Korean whatever mmo".
If you want to call it a matter of one's opinion that's fine but I would implore you to check out:
AAportal.net
archeagesource.com
Archeage YouTube channel
If you went to these places and looked around you would understand why people are getting so excited about Archeage. As far as animations, XLGames has gotten feedback from testers that animations needed work and XLGames said they were going to improve them. Sang Soon Park, animation director for Red Dead Redemption was hired to oversee finalization of the animations. There have already been a few videos released showing the improvements.
Thanks for providing the link OP. AA has some great game systems all in all. My first view of combat in AA here. It looks fairly solid. It does have the anima style which is question of taste. I don't think I learnt too much in these vids how it all works, break down of the skills and how choices are made etc... still interesting. When is this one due??
So what exactly are the combos? Can't read chinese and it seemed like just one skill followed by another, what is the relevance of the specific skill chain? BTW...those gfx look pretty crappy Is that with the old gfx engine?
I got to agree, that looked a tad bit disappointing. Now I know that there is still time for development left and it's probably not a deal-breaker for me anyways.

i have read about this game. I still can't see the game becoming very popular here in the west with a combat system like they showed, no matter how free you will be to build houses, cities and ships.
-release the videos in 10 seperate videos (thank you AAportal for making that alot easier to watch!)
-show the combat in very boring settings
-show the obvious current glitches
-ramp the graphics down to the point that it looks like lineage 2? I KNOW this game looks better then that.
This company is not helping me in promoting their game to all my friends so it can get hyped enough to get a publisher in America.. Not saying I don't love that they are showing the game off.. I like that, and I like that they aren't hiding anything, but damn Jarjar binks mount already turned off half my friends lol..
I don't know why they even showed these, I'm kinda indifferent about them, those are skills alright.
I guess this game shows more potential than anything else coming out, but still, it seems too little.
Sounds like you can be a farmer which is pretty cool. And throwing ropes to climb, or making your own bridges.
What I want to see happen is people making towns and actually inhabiting them. In other games like SWG it was cool that people can make towns and stuff, but most of the time there was no one in them! Kinda lame.
It would be kinda cool if people could have their own monster farms, where they could skill up/level up but wouldn't get any loot. Like you could duel monster slaves. This could be a town attraction. I just hate seeing those ghost towns.
These animations cooled down my interest in AA somewhat...
I hope these were done before mr. Park took over as an animation director.
I thought the overall look will be more western than typical Korean MMORPG, but these animations all look pretty much like they were taken from Lineage, which in my humble opinion is not good, well at least for majority of western audience.
I liked the sword-and-shield fight video, and thats about all.
I believe these 10 videos represent an ability (or school) you can choose upon creating a character (you can choose 3 of them and every one has it own skilltree);
Video 1: Fight
Video 2: Romance
Video 3: Magic
Video 4: Love
Video 5: Vocation
Video 6: Wild
Video 7: Will
Video 8: Death
Video 9: Adamant
Video 10: Illusion
The last one seems a bit weird... a hand of stone raising from the ground = illusion? But oh well, I am pretty sure about the other 9, so I guess this is right
The video didn't do for me what it was probably made for. It didn't make me go "I want to go there! I want to play that".
At times it reminded me of Rift's animations, which for me is not a good thing. I'm weird in that if I feel disjointed from my avatar for whatever reason then I will not be enjoying the game as much and I'd quit sooner than later.
This is also another reason why I hold off from watching too many videos of a game I want to try. For me first hand experience has always been fully different from what I had been expecting.

I don't believe it is planned to be f2p, so that rather knocks your argument on the head.
SWG was a similar sort of game and that did okay, in fact there are many, many people crying out for something to relive the SWG experience. For that reason alone it should get noticed.
Besides, at the end of the day, who said a game has to have a massive following for it to be successful?
Whoever cut that video is an idiot. The cuts from angle to angle, right in the middle of the skill being performed, make it impossible to tell what the fuck is going on. It's like watching one of the fight scenes from the Bourne Identity.
Oh, and the game looks like your average Korean MMO, which is what it is. Why is this getting so much attention again?

In which average Korean MMO can you build your house, even your village, can plant trees and crops, can build ships, can climb trees and ropes and walls ? Which is the one which has no classes but skill based, huge persistent word, where you can kick your opponent off of a mountain ? Show me that one please, we have to wait for Archeage way too long, if there is one like that out there already I wanna play it.
Well anyone who thinks this will be a typical korean grinder probably hasn't played many of them to even know what that means. Also I'd pick anime influenced graphics over that cartoony crap they have in WoW any day.
On the other hand though, this is probably the least exciting video I've seen so far. If you're going to show me skill animations why can't you show them like I would be seeing them if I was playing? Also, if they are supposed to be combos, why was there so many cuts in the video between the different skills? Do the combos have different outcomes then if you just did the skills by themselves? I guess I'm just a bit dissapointed compared to the other videos I've seen of this game.

Lol another keyboard prophet good to know that you know what everyone else would buy before they do.Maybe you should limit your comment to what you know "you" would sub too and not try to be some self appointed voice of the NA people.

Really? Can you please point to the free to play grinders where you can grow your own crops, make your own cities and houses and create nations and fight on the sea?
Because I have a bit of experience with these games as well and I was never able to access those game play elements.
closest I got was Lineage 2 where you could take over a castle and tax the player base.

Looks good, to bad it doesn't have a more action oriented combat.
Played: SWG-FFXI-EQ2-Aion
Anticipated in order of Hype:
ArcheAge
GW2
TERA
SWTOR
Not enough info, but looks promising:
Blade & Soul
Those going off in a decent sized battle, that's gonna hurt my gpu. None the less... very nice.

the formula looks great
the animations don't do it justice

Anyway, they seem decent enough though I have to say I didn't really get the Bard animation Oo
