Along with the update on the expansion, Star Vault also added a pretty large number of new screenshots of Dawn today, which can all be found here:

Not sure I'm understanding......Dawn is out now or it's going to be released soon?

They plan on releasing it soon - likely the end of May or beginning of June according to the update.

Cool i'll likely check it out once it goes live then.
How does MO match up to DFO? I'm currently playing DFO and considering giving Mortal a shot.
"I play Tera for the gameplay"
Like any games, they've got some similarities and some differences (and I haven't played DFO in over a year so I'm not an expert there). They are both non-instanced, and both have FFA PvP with full loot.
One of the main differences is the skill set up. DFO doesn't have a skill cap, while MO does. On average, it'll only take a few days to a couple weeks, depending on how much you play, to get your attributes and primary skills up to where you want them in MO. It'll take somewhat longer to get your secondary skills up to where you want them, but not on the order of many months (probably a month or two depending on how much you play). A DFO character can be strong in all skills with enough effort, while a single character can't be good at everything in MO (i.e. fosters a division of labor and multiple different viable playstyles).
Overall, I'd say DFO does territorial control and clan and siege warfare better, while MO does the "virtual world/society" better (MO has thievery, taming of many types of animals, more freeform house placement, mounts don't despawn, etc).
There was a recent thread that I thought had some good explanations of the differences in each game which would probably be worth a look.

Other than that, MO also has a free trial, so you can try it firsthand. Best way to give it a shot - free is good.

Just started my first day of MO. Can't say it was the greatest first day. While this game has many similarties to UO, it's going to be a very frustrating game for some. I personally love this style of game, but I think a few things could be better.
First off, it is a requirement that you have a massive amount of patience, starting out in this game. Getting your attributes up is pretty easy, just by cutting wood. It's also a decent way to make some money. Make sure you bank everything in your inventory besides the bare minimum. This pretty much goes without saying for most games like this. However, I made that mistake earlier today. I went to kill some pigs, and as soon as I stepped out of town I got killed by a player on a horse who was just waiting. I guess that's his idea of fun.. but not mine. So I lost some of the wood I cut. Not really a big deal. My main problem was finding a healer. The town I started in made me walk down a long chain of bridges/stairs just to get to the newbie farm area. I saw some lights which I assumed was a healer, and so I headed that direction. The lights were decieving however.. Being dark outside, and the ghost screen is very annoying, I ended up falling off some high up waterfall, and got myself completely lost in the game world. I eventually found my way back to the town, but it took about an hour to do so.
You really need to be interested in exploring the world in this game in order to play it. It's not for everyone, and I will make an attempt at a day 2. I can't say today was enjoyable at all.. it really felt more like a chore than anything else. I'm sure it would be fun once you got some things setup for yourself, or maybe help from some friends or a clan. But today was definitely not an enjoyable day for this game.
Thanks for the link. Exactly what I was looking for. I'm going to give Mortal a shot once Dawn goes live. One the things in DFO that is really starting to get to me is the amount of binds I need to be effective in pvp. I literally have to bind just about every key on my keyboard with spells and skils...Unfortionately everyone in DFO runs a hybrid build and its starting to get old for me. At times combat in DFO feels like more work then fun :-/
Also DFO feels like a huge pvp arena at times with very little sandbox elements. MO seems to have more to offer then grinding on mobs or pvp. Thankfully I waited until now to try MO and get to start with the Dawn release :-)
"I play Tera for the gameplay"
How much exploring does MO offer exactly? Is there a reason to explore the world other then to sight see? In DFO you can find chaos chests / random loot around the world to pick up. Does MO have anything similar?
"I play Tera for the gameplay"
I may be wrong but I think theres a way to teleport to a healer but you take a stat lose
"I play Tera for the gameplay"
You can move toward the lights that show where the healers are, or teleport (no stat loss for teleporting, just for dying as a murderer). One thing to keep in mind for a new player - if you teleport, you might not know exactly where you are when you get there. I'd probably recommend running to the healer until you've got your bearings. All the NPC towns have a healer, and there are also many located throughout the world.
There is no mini-map or global map in the game, which is by design (learn the areas by exploring). To answer your other question, there are some pickables in the game world right now, but not many, and there aren't regularly anything like the chests in DFO. They'll be adding a lot of pickables in Dawn.
Like most of these types of games, it probably a lot more fun with a group of friends or in a guild. There are a lot of helpful ones out there. Some can be found here: http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/guilds-looking-players/
Also, many of the guides found on the official website are really helpful to look at: http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/player-guides/
This is a pretty good general map.
Hope some of this is helpful.

What's with SV and tree screenshots, are they supposed to impress? Takes 5 min to create one in speedtree..
It shows how nice the countryside looks. I don't know - I think it looks good. It's a fantasy game.

Yeah, it looks very good. I can't wait to test Dawn.
Now i msut say i have not played MO since the first month of launch because it was just full on awefull, probally the worst MMO i have played and a big waste of a lot of cash.
Most of the world was unfinished, exploring i would come to some parts that just had the same texture splatted on the ground for miles and miles and it even went right up the monutins in one area... your character at the start couldnt even jump over a small pebble... really bad interface, character graphics where really bad as well considering its using the unreal engine....Terrible lag the deadly rabbits and pigs would warp all over the place and kill you..
I have recently seen posts on here boasting how the server has actually been stable for 24 hours and that was only a few months ago... that really does not sound good to me...
But saying that things do change and devs release patches and so on.. soo maybe all the issues are gone adn its a good game now. I would say give the trial a go.. but comparing darkfall at release and mo at release darkfall was a much better game in nearly every aspect and i cant see that changing im afraid..
Tho give the trial a go for sure
If you are clever, you start the trial after the release of the Dawn expansion within a few weeks. Then u can also test all the new stuff added to the game.
I do not understand how did someone pk you on your first day you should of had Newbie protection.
I'm also really looking forward to this expansion. The graphics have never been a real weakpoint with MO, but I like some of the subtle changes they're making with Dawn. Looks good.
