Beyond Blitzkrieg - What's happening?

Anyone know why Beyond Blitzkrieg has disappeared from the GMX Media website?  They were supposed to be releasing it around August, but they seem to have removed all trace of it from their site.  Anyone know what's up?

Some sort of legal dispute. The creators of Blitzkrieg II sued CRS because they claim naming rights to the word Blitzkrieg. The game is still going to be rereleased but possibly under a different name. I think GMX is using the temp name of Europe at War.

    thats just plain laaammeeee

    Banzai!

They own the rights to a historical name? Thats pretty absurd. OH well whatever. I'm sure they have more then enough imagination to come up with a better game title. Its kind of rediculous though if you consider the title was originally WW2OL Blitzkrieg, and this being the follow-up that goes beyond it is called Beyond Blitzkrieg.

Guess that just didn't make enough sense to the other company and their lawyers.

LMAO!!! They copyrighted the word "Blitzkrieg"??

    WTF? imageimage

What's next? Let's copyright the name Panzers, Hitler, France, attack, grenade, Germany, Nazi, WWII, soldiers etc..

In 20 years, WWII games will be called : 246225 25252

In United States, they can use Beyond Blitzkrieg, because in the US, whoever uses the game name first has rights to it.  After all, the game now is called World War II Online: Blitzkrieg, which was released prior to the Russian game 'Blitzkrieg'.  But in stupid Europe (j/k) they do it by who registers the copyright first.

At least that is as far as my knowledge takes me.

  • The 1.19 beta seem to be going well and I predict it to be live in 2 weeks.
The box edition of Battleground Europe may have to wait for 1.20.

I'm a noob and want to buy and play WWIIOL.  So at this time, is it best to wait for Battleground Europe?  Or can I buy a cheap copy of WWIIOL Readers Choice and just use CD key to dl 1.18, but will I just end up having to buy Battleground anyways in a few months?   GC

YOu can get BE as a free d/l if you have an account. I don't know what extras will be in the box, map etc, but player maps are great. If you can find any unopened box of ww2ol you can use the CD key and d/l the full install from their site.

Anyone can download the game for free HERE. You can (should really) try out all the equipment in the the Off-line boot camp.

Then when you are ready for some serious (very realistic) WWII action can you go HERE to sign up and create an account. And when done can you log in to the live server.

WWII Online main page can be found HERE.

Many Tanks,  I dl'd the game and played a little offline.  Seems pretty cool as far as vehicles go, but I'm more of a Inf man.  I also ordered a copy of WWIIOL Readers Choice(unopened) for $2+ship.  Really it was free, I used a gift certificate.  So when I get that, I'll start an account with the CD key.   Can't wait to get on the Battlefield!  GC

Don't you worry about the infantry game. It is breathtaking. No other game give me such a rush as playing infantry in WWII Online. ::::28::

No doubt there is nothing like the rush of charging a Sherman with a sapper hoping he doesnt turn his turret  and smoke you before you plant the satchel in the sweet spot to make him go boom.

I play 95% of my time with a rifle, the infantry game is damn fine, it has it's ups and downs. You will soon learn that standing in open fields will cause your head to pop off with no warning :)

In general you will find these 3 laws apply to the infantry game

    1. When you took a rifle you will wish you took an smg
    2. When you took an smg you wish you had a rifle
    3. When you took a rifle you wish you had took a sapper

Number 3 is an odd one, when you are a sapper you tend to find that you can't get near tanks without dying, yet as a rifle you are able dance upto the tank run around it, climb on top and dance a merry jig in front of the gun.

There needs to be news about WW2O on the front page but I guess they only put up what's hot at the moment (WoW). I've played the game a couple of times off and on with the free trials and enjoy it. For some reason though I can't bring myself to pay for it. Still I think it deserves more recognition than it's getting now.

If there is any justice in the world it'll get its recognition when the new box release comes out.

And then comes North Africa! I cant wait for that and the Italians.
