ok lets say the story of the game goes like this (this is made up just for my example)
the undead are taking over the land.......the players fight them back and eventually take back the land........then discover another island/contenient whatever beyond the undead lands (for like the expansion or whatever) where the players go to continue
now lets say thats how the story will go......what if one server had players that managed to progress through and destroy back the undead to that point.....yet some other servers had not yet done so.......will the one server continue to progress......or will they all progress together
i really hope the story can seperate and change the story later on for each server because this game is very rich into player development and player changes.

I think it would be real cool if an expansion effected different servers differently depending on the progress of each server.
I don't see why it can't happen either. The expansion event will probably have to take into account all sorts of different server situations, not to mention a changing situation.
I think epic PvE wars would add a lot to content, and the ability to role play, so I think this question may come up a lot in the future.
If you question the value of PvE look at a game like Shadowbane that basically has no PvE worth mentioning, and DAoC that made it so a level 50 character can make mid level characters for free because PvE is considered a chore. I am sorry but the PvE aspect of MMORPG will have to evolve to something more then a chore.
