I said I wasn't the guy, but I didn't say I wouldn't do anything. So here it begins, an attempt at a community-driven Vanguard renaissance. Meanwhile, more in in the works from me. I'm doing legwork right now, so I have no big announcement yet. But already you can like Vanguard Forvever on Facebook, and follow @VanguardForever on Twitter.
I will need help and input from the community; here's where to offer your input. "Doom!" posts will be ignored and possibly mocked; this is as much an experiment as anything else, and we may fail. But where's the glory in going down without a fight?

You might want to consider contacting peeps from the Twighlyte Song guild in game. I think it's the biggest active guild out there and they are doing some stuff like hosting a fishing contest and offering to help people complete dungeons. I'm starting work on a blog to document my return to Vanguard and the systems, classes, etc. and once I have something to show I'll post to your facebook group. Good work though, hopefully this will get some traction.
kudos Ard, good to see you putting your money where your mouth is.
Well done
Added it to my FB already

What's going on so far:
As already mentioned, there's a Facebook page at Vanguard Forever and @VanguardForever on Twitter. Everyone should feel free to tweet anything Vanguard-related under the #vanguardforever hashtag (which doesn't appear in Twitter searches yet,) and I will pick it up. New stuff, or even old stuff if it's got real value. And I've started a YouTube account under VanguardForever, which you can subscribe to, and when new videos appear, share them on Facebook, Twitter, etc. Right now all it's got is Faeran's classic Unofficial trailer, albeit in a higher-resolution version than was already available on YouTube. There will be more videos, and if anyone can point me to vids that really show off Vanguard, let me know.
Also, there will be a webpage, which I can host and which will be community-focused. I still need to design the page, so probably that will take a few days, but it should probably be up before the end of this coming week.
In-game, I'll be talking to whoever I can corner from Twighlyte Song and see what can be done in concert with them. And I'm talking to someone about doing a podcast.

I have not played in over a year but I still got the Telon mao on my wall. Will forever be the best game I ever played. But I just cant do solid PVE. LOVED PVE in the game, un touched by any other game. But I can't get excited to get a new weapon inless I get to kill a person with it.
I like anyways.
Ardwulf. I just wanted to applaud your love of the game - as it very much mirrors my own. We tried so hard last May/June to do something similar to what you're doing now, but at the end it only diminished my hope. I hope that somehow you can provide a solid gaming experience for anyone interested in Vanguard because that game is one of the best there has ever been and the potential is so great. If only it could be purchased by someone else...
Good luck in your endeavors and if it goes well, you never know, you might see me come around again.
Response to the Vanguard Forever initiative has been strong. I am now ready to announce that we have a website.
Vanguard Forever, the Vanguard Community Hub
Right now the front page is a wiki, which we may as well utilize to serve as a central respository for Vanguard information. There's also forums, linked from the front page. These are actual forums, not the thing that MediaWiki calls a forum.
I will be implementing improvements as we go, and would welcome suggestions and discussion on the forum as to how to promote Vanguard, as well as on the site.

Love the site Ardwulf.
Good job!
I have already announced it elsewhere, but we have a recording date for the new Vanguard Forever podcast set for this weekend. if all goes according to plan there will be a show posted some time next week, depending how long editing and such takes. There's also a discussion forum for the podcast already, HERE, if anyone has suggestions or feedback.

Very excited about the podcast
I played VG for a short time a little over a year ago. The low population is why I eventually left. After reading this thread and watching some of those youtube videoes you posted, I think I'll fire up the installer and give it another go. Great job with the VanguardForever idea and effort!
To me it seems like SOE plans to kill of the game so the Everquest Next players wont say "this is just like Vanguard".
I would play the game if it had some updates now and again, now I get the feeling that SOE wants to close it down ASAP.
They presents a lot of stuff for SWG at the fan fair, even though that game just have 6 mor months instead of putting that work into VG, madness.
I wont add you on FB, I am the last rebel who doesn't have that. But I fear it is too late, SOE will cancel it 3 months before EQ Next comes out, I can almost bet on that.
If this game has a chance at having a resurgence in population, I would give it a go for sure. This website looks like a great step in that direction.
might want to supply end game pvp ,pve video, the end game stuff how it is what make it interesting etc ty .
Massively recently had an interview with an SOE dev, check it out http://massively.joystiq.com/2011/07/10/soe-fan-faire-2011-an-update-on-vanguard/
According to that post, Vanguard seems to have a future after all.
So you are not adding him to Facebook or giving any support whatsoever, but still couldn't resist throwing in your 2 cents.......
You, my friend, are the model for the stereo-typical gamers in the world (even down to considering yourself to be a rebel).
