PVP is grueling experience in failure!

presti71presti71 Member Posts: 51

Like a lot of people i really like Global Agenda as far as the game itself. I like the gameplay, graphics, classes, combat, ect.

However, there are some things keeping me from enjoying GA's Mercenary PVP.

The first is the community which i wont get into much since it has been well covered. The community is FILLED with elitist, uber players who stay together in groups and Monkey-stomp you into Oblivion. If you are playing a Mercenary match and the other team has more people from the same elite agencies playing together than yours does then you might as well quit.

The BIGEEST thing i HATE about Mercenary PVP is the friggin Consumables! These are your one-time items you ingest/whatever that give you effects for a short period of itme. There are consumables that make you temorarily Invulnerable to ALL damage and they RULE the game. period.

I thought it was bad enough when i learned this game was gear-based like other PVP games but i could live with that but in reality the entire Mercenary PVP game is completely controlled by consumables. The team whose members have the most uber consumables wins hands down no matter what gear everyone has.

I played a game earlier where the teams were fighting over a control point and my team almost had control of the COntrol Point at one point and i thought we had it but it turned out the other team, obviously experienced in this, was holding on to their consumables and just before we captured the point their entire team ran into the control point area and activated their invulnerablility consumables and from then on constantly rotated in tea members who then made themselve invulnerable.

That's it, period. That is the ONLY strategy elite teams use in those types of Merc matches and it wins every time. Just keep sending in guys who have plenty of Invulnerability onsumables to hold the control points/whatever and the other team cant hurt them at all.

This strategy can work on any team and i could easily do it myself but i find it mind-numbing and stupid. There's no variation, no fun, no laid-back gameplay here my friends. It's players using the same classes with the same builds as everyone else using the Exact same strategies while Spamming the same uber consumables over and over..and over.

This may be someone's idea of fun but not mine. I cant see myself staying with this game much longer. I like doing the spec ops co-op missions but those dont get me much EXP and are starting to get old.

That's one of the biggest reasons I don't like FFA PvP. I know it's not as realistic, but I like having players on my side simply because they have blue shirts instead of red shirts. As long as yellow understands we will band together if they get too strong.

That's why I stick to the 29 and under bracket.  Sure, there are so many BAD BAD players there, but you don't have to worry about the 50s in all purples with their entire team from their alliance (and if they are some from their alliance on your team, they will ignore alliance members, thus making sure you lose).  No consumables either.

Just so you know. The comsumables are a one time use only. Once it is gone, it is gone for the rest of the match. That is true of all consumables. Now... with that said, Assaults have their Perfect Target ability which is similar however, they are the only class to have access to it.

Just replace any LoL reference with a GA one.

you cant use comsumables in Merc pvp.

if you are tired of all the players and their invulnerability (( wich is a skill not a consumable )) play a medic and use Nute wave it gets rid of all their buffs.

Well, it shows how much i actually researched into this game! Ok my OP was full of unreasoning Hate :) but aside from the consumable issue my gripes still stand.

Thanks for the responses guys, I will take a closer look at GA and maybe try a different approach...maybe!

  • I have gotten top damage + top bot kills in a match with a level 38 drone robo who has purple armor (from the switch over got it for "free"), green and blue and a few purple equipment (I think his hornet drone is purple and others are greens).  That match had a number of good players in it on both sides, people I have seen a number of times in other matches and who have played the game a while

All his gear (all four of my guys' gear) has no mods on it.

The game is much more skill dependent than gear or even build dependent.  I got top damage with a build people rag on all the time, drone robo, while using un modded armor and the other team had a very good turret robo as well (admittedly I got alot of my damage by kill his turrets and denying him damage and we were like 1k damage apart).

I don't really try to pad my stats though.  I am mostly conerned with trying to win a match.  I have not really felt I need the item of uber-ness and the people who demand characters eqipped with OC gear for PvE crack me up.  An OC-biofeedback is like a 5% upgrade at best.  I can outheal a lot of people with an OC just because I am more mobile.  And if a dude is gonna die then they woulda died with or without that OC heal gun.  They are gonna die because they didn't frigging move or are just stupid and don't get what the hell they are doing.

Don't believe the equipment hype its usually a sign of someone who has no idea about tactics.

  • Also you should play all classes at least a little.

    Only assaults can become invulnerable.

When they do this.  They do not count as someone who is capturing a point and can literally do nothing except get in the way.  The skill is called Perfect Target.

Were you shooting at him instead of getting on the point?  Because its called Perfect Target for a reason.  When you pop it that is all you are.  You are otherwise a non-factor for its duration.  When i play assault, if I take Pefrect Target in Pvp which I have kinda stopped doing, but when i did I would pop heal, pop perfect target and try to stand in front of a turret or person to block their shots.

There are other buffs that can make a team harder to kill but only assaults can be immune to all damage.  As for the other assault shields.  One is anti-ranged and one is anti-explosives.  You cannot have both going simultaneously.  If your team does not have a mix of damage types you might find youselves having a hard time countering them.

One reason I like drone robo is I can kill assaults by simply popping a drone that is the opposite of what shield they pop.  Pop range say hello to Mr. Explosive damage Hornet.  Pop explosive shield say hello to grizzly.  Both of which also annihilate turrets very well.

Whatever tactic you are seeing should have either a counter, or is not effective at winning.  The range/explosive shield can be countered.  Perfect Target assaults can literally be ignored.  Healing can be reduced signficantly in multiple ways.  Turrets are vulnerable to a number of things and multple classes can kill them well, only medics lack anti-turrets capabilities.  Turret killing is not all on recons that is what idiots will tell you.  In fact drone robos kill turrets at least as well and probably better than recons.  And assaults are the only ones who can reliably take on some nasty closed in and protected nests.  Melee builds can be avoided very well with good jetpacking.

Check out some of my videos if you have time, i'm aiming to help players improve by showing them how i play/how my agency plays, so i hope they help.

Global Agenda is very much a skill based game, you can see this in the end game AvA where everyone has the best gear and it's down to how well you work as a team and individual player skill.

GA is a great game.  Reminds me of playing competitive UT back in the day.  I really don't have anything bad to say about the game or Hi Rez.

I understand that you dislike most forms of non consensual pvp, ive seen your posts in other games, however, you do realized your commenting about FFA pvp in a game forum that is more or less an instanced FPS shooter game with rpg elements.

This game has death matches and CTF.  There isnt FFA pvp the game is pvp.

Sure they have some pve style instances that can be fun.

Basically what im saying is that this game doesnt apply to your anti-ffa pvp propeganda, perhaps you should play it.

Also, its not all that hard to get to the top as far as character progression, you can do it all on pve runs.  It will take a lot of time if you dont pay the one time purchase, and less if you use the booster packs (only two things you can buy in the game with real money) and all the booster pack does is gives you an extra reward slot for completing matches.

Basically, your not going to hop in and be a top pvper in a week, unless your really skilled at FPS games.

Well to be honest most games are unbalanced in battlegrounds, always depends on how good or lucky ur group is. GA will always be full of elitists.

My advise, find someone to play with medic + assault or double robo.
