Cursed runes

So far it seems more p2win than ever. Has anyone actually tested this laughable new money hungry mechanic?

Thoughts?

    Yeah I have.

They give free items called Phlyacteries of Passage in the item shop that prevents you from getting cursed. If you forget to take them and equip them too bad because I'd rather not have a game where they walk you hand in hand around the world and protect you from all the bad things in life.

    Hope this helps

In the NA version these things are called Holy Charms. They're free to buy in the cash shop at the moment, but they have a 24 hour timer. So when the game picks up player base again they're more than capable of changing the price to not -free again, effectively turning it back into pay2play, just not subscription. When they first announced this change towards "more free-to-play than ever" the charms did not have a timer, but a week or so later the timer was added.

I guess they're counting on the player base picking up drastically and then rolling them all again, but it's just not happening. The grind just gets too much for most. There are not enough players around (on Tensess at least) to be able to complete the world mystery quests and if you can't complete those you miss out on a lot of the lore which is one of the most enticing elements of the game, in the beginning at least. So while it's an interesting title, be warned that the NA publisher has built up a track record of ruthlessly twisting your arm for cold hard cash.

Waiting for Guild Wars 2, and maybe SWTOR until that time...

Forever? They really stated "forever"? That"s a good one, not even for as long as their contract will aloow them to or something, just forever. Did they also say those phylacteries, or whatever they're called, will remain available for free and that the curse mechanic won't be changed to make it so that phylacteries alone don't cut it anymore? Ok, I guess you could take their word for it, or not. Play the game as long as you enjoy doing so.

I like the current Allods version enough to keep on playing it. The last two level are a serious grind and unattainable without going second and third astral layer, but at least they seem to have heard the message they got after the Gipat patch loud and clear.

I'm sure if they lose their contract with Allods they won't care about having broken that forever promise. I'll not be as cynical as you and take it as they mean as long as they are in charge they stay free

Since this forum is about the gpotato.com version, I can say that I think Gala doesn't really care about breaking promises all that much, just about making money. If they think they'll be able to make more money breaking that promise than keeping it, all bets are off. And that's not cynicism, it's realism. Your experiences on the EU side may have been less harsh, but that doesn't mean a thing for the US version.

I think Allods wouldnt break there promise with the free holy charms. If they were to break there promise they would see another exodus of people leaving this game.  If there smart they would want to grow the customerbase by lowering the prices of some of the items in the cash shop. They do give some free items so its not all bad.  I would like to see a increase in the economy in mob drops and crafting. They also need to balance the classes.

If they were smart they would have had free incense and charms with the release of the Gipat patch instead of destroying the game and the reputation it had built with a single patch. I honestly think it's already too late for Allods Online (NA), there are too many games out there to be able to survive really disastrous decisions like that. The game is too slow now and gets a boring grind past the first few areas. I don't see them making fundamental changes in that respect, so you have lots of people trying out the game, few of those trying make it to end game and that is a big problem for an MMO.

Get out while you can, this games going down the toilet with this new system.

  • B1mbleB1mble Member CommonPosts: 148

Its not only the new system, the pay2win elitist cash shop that caters for the rich or those retarded enough to farm surveys, its also the fact that they have dicked around with the classes so much that they are practically busted beyond repair.

The balance has been lost with only a couple of classes worth playing whilst the rest are nerfed to the point of being useless.  Aparently more changes to Paladin and Healer are on the way so meh.

I think I have done my time with this one. The quest for something to stick with continues.

I do agree with the classes be so nerfed theyre almost useless. It seems now that the only jobs that rock are the ones that can cast magic or have pets.  Im almost to endgame and i havent spent that much and i have my runes almost updated. The problem  with Allods is the lack of gold one needs to able to use the AH.  The bullshit items they put into the strongboxes i think they can do better. My sugesstion for allods is to get rid of myrth and incence for players who are in endgame. Even though its free, a player shouldnt have to worry about it. And dont make the same areas so damn repeatable find mysterious stones five crown trophies and kill 100 plus mobs. And make sure the damn quest arent bugged. They should ripped a page out of lotro book and make you turn in so many items a day for xp . And double the xp in the fatiuge meter.  Little things allods should take in to consideration if they want to keep players from leavng. Listen to your players you stingy bastards.

Cant fault you there.  I'm trying to level up a Warrior and as far as PVP is concerned the class is useless.  I get pasted in the Arena by the ranged classes 2+ levs lower because you have one Charge to get in close and then they just leap around so you cant get close  and frag the crap out of ya.  Couple this with the crap energy requirement, the only thing the class is good for is PVE and all the others do it so much better.

Gutted because I can't be bothered going through all the same crap again just to level up a Healer or Warden with the sole purpose of being competitive.

I gues if I want to spend a couple of thou or more in the cash shop,  then it might be worth it :P
