Just wondering who is going to be playing it

I probably will wait for others to plunge headlong into the game, as it is never good to be the first penguin into the water. However, the game does sound promising, but it is intended for a niche market.

Really looking forward to RV more than any other MMO, and I'm a fan of the revenue model in particular, if I take a month long holiday then I'm paying nothing while I'm away. The in-game currency can be earned in-game or you can top-up using your CC or similar. At the end of the day I would *much* rather have the developers of a game benefit from the sales of in-game items over people using IGE or similar, where a group of kids in China are paid $1 per day to play a game for 12-hours, so someone can make some money on e-bay.
Allowing players to sell items on e-bay not only forces unethical work practices in 3rd/2nd world countries it also supports hackers & macro kiddies - it's bad practice - let the developers reap the rewards & improve the game as they go - it's a recipe for everyone's happiness, bar hackers etc - perfect!

Can't wait, been following it for ages.
I think you've been misled. RedBedlam will not require players to buy anything except for the game off the shelf...or an auth key after downloading. True, players can buy in game currency...but they can also gain it by working in game, just like other MMOGs. A player need not pay any money after the initial payment for the game to continue playing.
I choose to look at it this way. The revnue system is like a free game with a donation. You dont have to give a donation...but in RV's case, if you do donate money, you're rewarded with in game currency that can be applied to anything in game that you want.

I decided to be one of the first penquins in the water and I think I will preorder the first chance i get.
I wanted to start in Ireland too.
IRISH players unite! Maybe we can make an island nation that rivals the power of ROME, then invade britain. ehehee.
I was thinking about the EXACT SAME THING. Then it occured to me, spoiled little punks always buy other people's accounts on E-bay anyways, so whats the difference. And then I thought, hmmm, I can kill that dude in their sleep. If theres a little griefer punk that everybod hates, he wont last long in the game. Everybody will be after em.
The revenue model in RV allows for so much more felxibility than the normal subscription model. From the feedback I've read on the site the balance looks to be very healthy, yes, there will be rich players that don't have to work to achieve - will they have an advantage? Not really, as players that work to achieve will have better skills and characters that have greater depth.
It makes a lot of sense to try RV out - you have to pay a nominal amount for the game box or dl & no subscription, much better than committing to a more expensive box & monthly fees!
