In a nutshell explain EVE to me please

Hello all,

Ive noticed EVE has been around for some time now and wonder...hmm what is the hoopla about? Ive checked the website and read some reviews but I want to hear it from the players who play EVE to explain the game. My questions or thoughts are

  • EVE is a space ship only game? i.e you dont actually have a toon walking around on a spaceport?
  • EVE is a space combat game, space ship warfare?

If you like mmos then Eve could be for you. It's got a steep learning curve but avoids grinding by having a skills based system that occurs by you purchasing the skill and automatically learning it over a pre-set period of time.

It's got meaningful PvP, regions where PvP can be largely avoided and a player run economy. Personally I think Eve is really good and have been playing it since Jan this year. I would suggest you try the free 14 day trial - join a corp and go for it.

There is no walking, its all ship and station based and there is ship to ship, fleet to fleet combat.

    Eve is set in space.

In Eve you can be a pirate, mercenary, stock trader, researcher, mission runner, miner, refiner, CEO, warrior, politition, empire builder, station manager, market trader, or manufacturer.

It's an open ended environment. You choose your destiny. oh, and the skill system trains while you are offline. So, say for instance you are like to build things. You are not forced to go kill something to get your attributes and skills up which most other MMORPG force. If your a builder, your a builder.

If you have broad band download this and check it out. This is just fleet action with alliances, all ingame stuff. Theres alot more to do then this but i think this will give you an idea about fleet battles and insight on alliances and corp.
