What level do warriors become viable for pvp?

Tried out a warrior after trying all the other classes. I could barely hurt a level 6 mage in a duel before i was killed. Thought my plate and shield was supposed to help, but apparantly not. I was only level 6 myself playing reaver, riftblade, paragon. I understand void knights are better against casters, but the duel wasn't even close. We did it more than once and my abilities didn't even phase the cloth wearer. Any idea what might be wrong?

Gain a few more levels.. I was killing people in warfronts as soon as i was able to get into them as a warrior.. Mostly used champion tree.

Problem is you're lvl 6 and have nearly no abilities, and not much for weaponry. Of course, it also depends on what spec the mage was, some are tough to kill and some are glass cannons.
Look on the rift forums. Its plain to see where warriors stand in Rift PvP. Also, once you get into WF you will see how few warriors are actually there.
If you don't have a healer you can trust it makes it kinda hard to wade into the thick of things and do any real damage. You're going to be target numero uno.
If you don't mind dying a lot, and don't mind being at the bottom of the Damage Done list in war fronts, then warrior may be for you.
Yeah, im thinking of not playing my warrior . I did win some duels after rearranging my soul points by level 10, but they were against a rogue and another warrior. I have a higher leveled cleric which tops dps in warfronts on a consistent basis, as well as placing in top 3 for healing done. I'm thinking clerics are favored to win, and have heard that rogues are getting a boost come the next big patch. The warrior seemed like a fun change, but those forums were pretty full of some cold opinions concerning their dps builds. (And justicar/shaman would make better tanks)
Warrior rocked PvP 2 patches ago, but they're rather flimsy as of right now. Champ/beastmaster spec can still dish out some tasty damage later in levels, but early on they are mediocre compared to other classes. Many warriors create tank specs for pvp due to survivability issues. I personally don't play one, I just know it's a lot easier for my rogue to kill them now.
I second that. Champion tree.
My friend I play with is a warrior Riftblade soul and he is always constantly on top of the damage charts in warfronts. If he's not first he's always top 3 and that's even when we're on the lower level end of the WF. I think it has a lot to do with your play style and skill level as well.

Yeah champ/BM is what im using now and i find myself doing decent HP and with some nice heals.. I usually use this set up if i'm gonna be going solo in warfronts or for solo pve..
But if im in a group ill switch over to a paladin/reaver because as long as i got someone healing me i will stay up.. Plague Bearer + Soul Sickness = instant heals.. Plus i have that 30%dmg reduced buff + instant heal.. DPS is weak but my DoTs do kill people on lower health and they can hit up to 12 different targets.
