Just finished the demo as well, so just adding my two cents...
I ran through it with the male character on Hard. Your health goes down very quick (about 55 damage taken a hit from the regular melee mobs and about 35 from the ranged) so you have to avoid getting hit all costs if you don't wish to die. I really liked that. And despite health going down very quick, it's actually decently balanced (at least on the male character) as I actually managed to beat the demo without dying once on my first time - though there were some serious close calls. I did not try Normal however, so I don't know how that goes.
I find the mouse and keyboard controls to be horrible. And I could not find a way to remap my keys, which I do for every single game. I really hated this. However, gamepad controls absolutely fine and fluid. So I'd have to say this game was built with the gamepad in mind (though the camera still sucks - why can I invert Y but have no option to invert X???).
However, sometimes the controls stop responding. At times I can hold down the block and roll around all I liked, other times I HAD to release block and repress it before I could roll again. I could not figure out a reason for this, and it was rather frustrating (especially on the last fight in the demo). Additionally i did end up getting stuck on a few objects every now then, though rolling got me out of it.
The level design is boring, at least in the demo. They're pretty much just tunnels and hallways with no real points of interest (or notable detailing). Also count me as another one that disliked the art style, and the fact that all the armors had absolutely no visual change on the character (boring!), only weapons did.
I can definitely tell from the demo that single player is going to be... mediocre, at best. So this game is - as expected - all about coop, which is a plus.
Overall, I can see myself having some fun with it, especially if I can get my girlfriend and friends to play it through with me. But I don't see it as a title worth full price. I'll probably end up getting it once it goes on a Steam sale or when the price drops.
After playing the demo through twice (Normal with the Demon Lady (Archon?) and Hard with the Warrior dude) I was left with generally positive feelings...
Gameplay - I enjoyed, primarily due to the difficulty. Oftentimes running in and just spamming attack would result in death; you, seemingly, had to use the block and dodge techniques - which I enjoyed. However, I feel they need some form of improved health regen or health potion mechanic; the fight at the end took an AGE due to health restraints and a lack of hp/mp orbs.
Aesthetics - I adored. I really loved all the shadowing and fire effects as well as the general 'feel' of the game. My sole disappointment here was the lack (atleast in the demo) of item customisation; my avatar's image didn't really change by equipping different items - it was all a bit bland.
Storyline - Asside from the longwinded cutscenes (which I assume were to progress the demo), I found the story highly compelling. But then I love my arpgs to have some degree of story; traversely, a couple of youtube reviews (notably by TB and Yogscast) highlighted the longwindedness (is that even a word?) of the dialogue to be a dull and boring process - which may be an issue for many. Oh, and as mentioned earlier in this thread - the voice acting seems a bit 'off' (re: highly unnatural and emotionless).
Conclusion - I shall definately be getting the game at release... but then if there was a gaming genre (other than mmorpg) which I loved as a gamer it would be the ARPG; it may not be for everyone!
Tried the demo, HATED the controls. With such a passion, I hated them. Who the hell thought it was a good idea to only allow movement forward and backward? It's like driving a bus, except the bus is your character. To turn, you rotate the camera, then move forward or backward in that direction. I saw no way to change that in the options, either. Really, really disappointed in that.
Fortunately, I had an Xbox gamepad and once I ditched the keyboard and mouse the game got much better. It's a bit linear, but them the other two Dungeon Siege games were similar (though 1 was less linear than 2 and 3), so I sort of expected that. But those controls need to change for people that don't use gampads, or I foresee a LOT of people bitching about it in reviews.
"Forums aren't for intelligent discussion; they're for blow-hards with unwavering opinions."
The demo was pretty bad but what do you expect from an Obsidian game ? I just can't understand who in their right mind would ever let them make any games whatsoever. Their buggy, controls are awful and the voice acting is horrendous.
D3 follows the sample of every other game coming out right now and trying to go cross platform, meaning its really set up for a console game, and the PC games just have to deal with alot of restricted movement and ability usage.
You can turn without the mouse btw, WASD is perfectly usable in the demo it just requires a bit of getting used to, if you ever played Diablo the layout is extremly similar. I more have an issue with not being able to down pane the camera so I can see straight ahead of my character instead of down at an angle.
This game is for people who were looking for a new multiple dungeon crawler like Champions of Norath or Ultimate Alliance, nothing more then that, and it should be enjoyed on those grounds.
Every Dungeon Siege that has dropped has been completly diffrent from the others, and arguably the first Dungeon Siege still has the most advanced gameplay of the three, the only problem is it came way before its time.
Also, the voiceacting was perfectly fine, it all fit and went together, anyone who is basing gameplay off of voice acting really has been brainwashed by Biowares retarded idea that voiceacting is innovative.
Id rather they Torchlight it. They made torchlight pc THEN ported it to consoles.

I had another thread going about this in "PC Gaming" subforum but I'll copy paste my thoughts to this thread to give anyone on the fence a warning before pre ordering:
Well after running through the demo with the fighter character I have some opinions on this game. First off in it's current state I can't recommend it for preorder/purchase. This isn't due to bugs but rather a very clunky and awkward control system. Not sure if it's the result of consolization or what but if you scroll a few posts down, poster #4 Castille sums it up quite well. My thoughts are as follows, but basically what could otherwise be a cool game is being ruined by camera and control issues.
Two biggest problems with this game are the restrictive camera view and the awkward control system. W = forward, S= back but A=turn camera left and D=turn camera right??? Why not just make it so that right click hold and mouse turn moves the camera like most other examples in the genre (and mmos for that matter)? Two camera view options are 3rd person and "over the shoulder". Only problem is that if you turn the mouse wheel in either direction, the camera will just cycle through these two views until you stop turning the mouse wheel making you feel like you are quickly bungee jumping. Why not just zoom in with mouse wheel forward and zoom out with mouse wheel backwards like most other examples in the genre (and mmos for that matter)?
What I did like about the game?
Well I actually liked the graphics, no worse than any other hack n slash. I liked being able to block incoming blows (of course the awkward controls made this a chore). Dodge rolls are nice. Good ragdoll physics. Inventory UI is neat and new items that have not been examined yet are highlighted making it easy for you to quickly go through them. In addition, the value in gold of each item is displayed so that you can decide what to trash or transmute out in the field. When you hover over an item it shows what stats go up (green) and down (red) making for easy equip decisions.
What else I didn't like?
Well not sure if it's the demo, but it was very linear with zero exploration (other than a minor corridor or nook somewhere). Voice acting isn't top notch. Usually I forgive this as I value game mechanics over voice acting.
The game play seemed rather cool considering that i expected the normal controls of an Hack and slash rpg (so a wild mouse button smashing) granted for it to really work well u need a game pad. I knew that for quiet a while already since various game magazines already reported that the controls were intended for game pads at first i hated it and even felt kind of betrayed but after actually playing it i have to say its really smooth and feels just more action oriented than the norm u are used to.
The camera was a bother at first till i realized that i can play in a close up view as well which solved my camera problem completely.
As for the Art style well guess everyone has a different taste i liked it very much and found the whole graphic pretty nice for this kind of game even more so if i take Diablo 3 screenshots as reference (granted Diablo isn't out yet so maybe they will do a complete overhaul and actually offer some decent graphics.....lol as if...)
The skill system seems somewhat interesting as well even tho it seems that a class is limited to 9 skills but this skills have a powered up mode and a normal mode u can use them in so that makes 18.
You also are able to modify the skills with lvl up points and change the effect greatly so its possible for u to create the perfect skill set for you and your companions.
Like i already mentioned everyone's taste is different but for me the demo was very promising and i even caught me thinking once that its quiet a revolution for this kind of game and i think a simple mouse point and click combat would be a step backwards now.
I liked the Demo too and think Obsidian may have done a very good job...am waiting to see what the PS3 release version is like. If you enjoyed Dragon Age 2 this will be a blast for you.
Important to remember it is a Demo on PC. Options may come and I think the Demo played like a tutorial...so get beyond that into the main game and it may open up a lot more. Also more graphics settings and control options may be available on release, I do admit it may be a port from perhaps PS3 to PC.
I will probably buy. I think it will be good RPG for console.
Just tried it...OMG what a big letdown.....Don't wanna troll here..
Why isnt it done by Gaspowered Games??? The gameplay and the atmosphere of the original DS is...gone!
Why Square Enix did it? To much Asian influences, I am honoust, i don't like "manga"sort of graphics at all..
The gameplay just sux, looks like a bad port to me...and the inventory screen OMG...
I was looking out for this one...but I skip this one!!!
I would have a hard time to understand where u imagined manga graphics...but ok if that's how u felt i guess we have a different understanding what manga is lol
btw SE didn't make the game they are only the publisher Obsidian is the developer which is an American company.....
The one thing that bugs me about games simulataniously released for the PC and the consoles is usually the menu system. Is it really that hard to implement a PC-only click and drag inventory system for example?
I really liked the original, but this demo made me quit within 10 minutes. The bad design choices were present in every single second of those agonizing 10 minutes. You can only use the mouse for moving, but you have to press E for interaction with environment objects. The UI, menus and other basic things didn't feel solid either. The voice acting was terrible, the NPC characters were bland and disappointing. Cutscenes don't suit action-rpg's either since they destroy the extremely important pace of the game.
I found the gameplay severly lacking as well, but I am probably not a good judge here since I only played 10 minutes. Having no attack beside auto-attack at the start of the game is pretty unforgiveable though. Someone said the game as if it was designed for a very young child which gets easily confused and I can't help but agree with him.

No no no.... that is a horrible example to use. DA2 was a huge letdown of epic proportions. In fact DA2 is the current poster child for consolized PC games. Until they fix the camera and controls, DS3 cannot be recommended for purchase on PC.

Well it is a demo. Really I am more interested in the console release versions where I would be using a game pad and not point and click mouse control. Demo also plays like a tutorial stage in a game.
I actually liked DA2 on PS3 and think it was great RPG fun. Just been playing Witcher 2 on PC with high graphics setting and that was fun too. I would rate both these games similarly.

I am asking because u start with 3 ability's and there isn't really an auto attack.
I can only repeat myself the game was intended to be played with a game pad if u do that it feels a way better and the game play becomes enjoyably.

I really enjoyed DS 1 & 2, especially 1's co-op mode. Two things i dont like after playing DS3's demo. Graphics are beautiful, i loved the music, and my gosh all the huge boobs in the demo!
The mouse isnt the only way to move your character, the W and D keys worked for moving forward and back. Its a little awkward but it worked.
