Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising is poised to be unleashed on the world in the very near future and the open beta has already commenced. On a recent trip to Heatwave Interactive, MMORPG.com writer Richard Cox participated in a round table discussion with CEO Anthony Castoro, Lead Designer Tim Schubert, Producer Phil Tittle, Community Manager Donna Prior and Product Manager Shannon Drake. Today we wrap up the series with Part 3 of the developer roundtable discussion

I love that you guys are doing a lifetime subscription offer. It’s not a limited time offer like other games in the past have done is it?

Anthony Castoro: We will have to see how it goes, it’s undecided at this point if we’ll keep it around indefinitely or remove it after a limited time.

I love the change from a fantasy setting to a historical one, but that only lasts so long before the illusion fades and the game starts to set into me. I'm really supprised they're launching this month. They've got a tough road ahead of them... no one (outside of its fans) seems to be interested in the game at all.

The game would of done pretty well if it came out in '07 or '08 like it was originally supposed to. I get vibes of a pre-BC era MMO from this game (aka the first round of '2nd gen' MMOs),and I can appreciate it for that. Sadly, though, the market really has no place for that.

I guess we can just call it a niche game. Sounds better than total failure in the current market.

There is no way they should be releasing this game in 9 days.
It has so many bugs at the starting levels I cant imagine the latter. Fighting seems unresponsive and lack luster, just not a fun game, minions ala dungeon siege will not carry this game far. Sorry to be blunt but please don't release this game it's worse than Age of Conan was at launch. If you want some success bring the price down to 20 bucks not 50.00 geesh!

I think they did a pretty good job.  Yes there are some bugs, as all MMO's Ive ever been in had at launch.  I like the minion system, its so much more than just a simple pet setup.  The setting in Rome is great if you like that kind of stuff (which I do).  The community really is top notch so far.  Not just the players that I speak of but the staff.  They respond in the forums in short period of times, questions are answered and they show thier plans for the expansions etc.  Even the CEO is active in the forums.  Its just refreashing to be able to communicate with the people making the game and take your concerns to someone who you know is actually listening.
