It all comes down to the core mechanics, WOW had a good system at its foundation and as the game matured, they were able to capitalize on it.  Other games like STO have terrible core mechanics and it takes years to revamp them.  I know I wont like everything about this game at launch, I'm just hoping the foundation to build on is strong and it can mature in the direction I want it to without needing complete revamps like in STO.

IF i would play a game for combat i would play a game that is a beat em up, shooter, action game, not even GTA IV was about combat to me.
But PR seem to need this "Heroic Combat" headlines like a Drug addict.

And "Space Battles"...hmmm, i have played from Space Pirates, Elite, Wing Commander, X-Wing vs TF, Independence War, Privateer 1+2, Freelancer so many Space Combat games, i think beginners will have some fun with it - fair deal as long the core game is good!

There you go, fixed the first part for you. Honestly, and I think I speak for just about everyone that is planning on playing ToR. We are glad these people that consistantly come on these forums to complain about the game are not going to play. Who would want to game with them anyway.

GW2 will probably launch Q1 2012 (beta by the end of 2011). until then: Skyrim, Deus Ex, Arkham City, BF3. personally, i wont have time for an average SW game.

I need to get my hands on it to be sure, but it does look damn good. Even if it's WOW in space, that wouldn't be a bad thing.

Seems like you have a very high expectation of how GW2 will be the second coming and all. If i was you, i would tone that down abit or you just might have to stay playing those console games you seem to keep bringing up everytime you post.

Who said anything about GW2 being the 2nd coming? People are just anticipating better things from GW2 than SW:TOR, since SW:TOR's biggest selling point will be story. I myself will check out SW:TOR, but I just expect it to be slightly better than Rift (which is a good game).

Hate waiting for games, I prefered it when we just talked about what it might be, then it released, sometimes with an open beta. This is just getting annoying, it's like watching porn with blackout stickers on.

Can't wait for this game to come out. They should release Collectors edition information already :P

LOL, interesting way of looking at it.

I just wish these forums could be civil and not pit one game against another.  It really is getting old.

GW2 and TOR are two quite different games, and appeal to large groups.  But if you don't like one, don't go bashing the other.  This goes for troops on both sides of the fence.

this is her version of "u mad?"

Calling my comment arrogant is... paradoxical

The bottom line is SWTOR is by all accounts of people who have demo'd it an incredibly fun game. On almost every account people who have experienced the VO were impressed at how immersive it was compared to regular questing.... and how much more they cared even if they did not care about PvE to begin with.

The game is already amazing at the point it is at right now, the only way this game is not gonna be awesome is if for some technical reasons it is unplayable when it goes live.

My advise.... invest in EA stock before they put out a pre-orders for SWTOR. This game is a garanteed success.

At this point every single feature they have is. when not amazing, more than adequate compared to anything else being done in the industry.

At this point if someone cares enough to follow the game, whatever they might be saying... odds are they do intend on trying it.

{mod edit}  I'm not dumb, I love how people assume, they did the same thing when WOW first came out and every other game.

{mod edit} You know why people get all happy about a game?  Graphic's if a game has a realistic look to it they get all excited, but SWTOR did this on purpose . You know why?????? Buisness they said at the start they wanted lower graphic's so all of there fan base could play the game.. Look what happen to AOC, if bioware went all out we would have that issue with SWTOR and it would lose money so, think before you bash a game.

If you want graphics go play FF, or GW2, if you want game play and a game that looks fine, play SWTOR. Enough said. Thats my 2 cents

I'm a BioWare fanboy I think, at least I unjoy all their games, but this is BioWare's first MMO.  That being said I don't know how it's going to turn out, as in I don't know if I'm going to like it or not.

That being said, I can agree with this statement.  It's just nice to look foward to playing a game again.  Well, this and ME3 :)

    SWTOR is meh

But I have seen the gameplay. And its quite nice game to play. Nothing special. But it will be worth 50$ at least.

GW2 on other hand will be amazing.

But it will not launch before summer 2012 , and even that is optimistic.

I love you so much Alot.

SW:ToR will be excellent, and I'm a GW2 fanboi. Looking forward to it very much, just wish they'd drop the release date so I know how to plan my absences from school :/
