Mega Brands has reached an agreement with Blizzard Entertainment to bring World of Warcraft Mega Bloks construction sets to retail outlets. The sets will feature locations, characters, and mounts from World of Warcraft and are expected to reach retail outlets in the summer of 2012.

Mega Bloks has achieved remarkable success translating gaming content into innovative and entertaining toys for kids and collectors alike.

"We're proud and thrilled to enter into a partnership with Blizzard Entertainment, the world leader in creating epic online game franchises," said Vic Bertrand, Chief Innovation Officer of MEGA Brands. Interesting, the creator of WoW-clones conspires with a LEGO-clone.

You have to be joking?  Really I know what mega blocks are,  when my 10 year old was 2 -3 they were the predecessor to Lego's.   I can not imagine 3-4 year old playing with mega blocks designed to wow.  All I can say is this is one of those things that make you scratch your head and ponder what they are thinking.

Holy Shit. You guys are nuts. I'm 30 and I have a 4 y/o and I will own every set they make. I'd rather my son play with Warcraft stuff then the Thomas the Tank Mega Blocks he has now. Also, don't forget that WoW has a very popular audience from the ranges of 8-15 - They will eat this shit up also.

  • elockeelocke Member UncommonPosts: 4,335

Considering Thomas the Tank is targeted towards 5 and under, I think I would rather have my sons play with those than WoW blocks.  However, my sons are now in the Lego phase and it boggles me as to why Blizzard didn't approach Lego to make WoW Legos.

I would say that this is aimed at the older "Hobby" crowd, like the collectors Star Wars Lego sets that a kid couldn't complete if they tried. But Mega Bloks? Really? My only experience with Mega Bloks has always been to expect to be missing pieces when you open the damn thing.

.. But in a good way.

I hear there will be "daily constructions"; mega bloks designs which will deconstruct themselves at midnight so you can build it all again the following day.

Don't forget the tiered construction system: you have to build Goldshire before you can build Nethergarde Keep.

    Megablocks are incredibly lame.

This seems to be aimed at toddlers because any self respecting kid would not use oversized legos to play with, they would use the real deal.

    I can see it now...

(Potential girlfriend walks into WoW enthusiests house and sees all sorts of buildings made out of MEGABLOCKS.)

Girl: Oh I didn't know you had kids?

    Guy:  I don't

Girl:  Then why do you have megablocks?

Guy:  Well, they are World of Warcraft megablocks!

Girl: Ah...so...is it fine if I just leave now?

Guy: What? You aren't going to help me complete the Horde Capital?

Girl:  The only thing I am going to complete is to completely dissapear...bye!  (Door Slams)

Guy as he peices the Horde Capital together:  I knew I should have boughten that female blood elf replica box set.

    .....About 60 MEGABLOCKS later....

Guy:  Well that was incredibly easy.  Guess I can go back to playing WoW now!

Make sure you eat your Ironforge Oats so you can be big and strong!

And also, eat your Vitamins of Lothar every day to maintain strong bones!

Well dam, looks like Blizz cornered the market on that generation.   Next.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

They do make some toddler age mega blocks, like the Thomas ones, but they also make sets for older kids, like the Halo series.

We have a few of the Halo sets, they are just as nice as any Lego Star Wars set.

There are little Mega Bloks just like there are little Legos and there are big Mega Bloks just like there are big Legos.

Ah yes. And what about the cross-mansion mega-blok finder?
