If your looking for a MMORPG, this is not the game for you. Guild Wars is not a MMORPG, but a CORPG (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game).
That being said, is the game worth it? If your big on PvP or group play, and thats your main cup of tea, then yes, buy the game. The professions are well balanced and there is a large array of skills/weapons for you to use. Its easily this games shining point. Learning the PvP is easy, and almost intuitive, but takes a while to master. You can play against up to 6 different PvP teams at a time, with each team having as many as 8 players.
If your big on PvE or solo, then its a different story. The PvE, or RPG mode as they call it, plays exactly like a single player game, without the depth of a single player game. You have next to no effect on the storyline or the gameworld as a whole. Depending on how many hours you sit playing it, you can beat the PvE in as little as a week, or as long as a couple months. Max character level is 20, as the previous person stated, and you will reach that point 3/4ths of the way through the PvE. The rest of the time your just looking for items and skills to unlock for the PvP part, as its the only way to use 90% of the content in PvP. Unlocking all the content could easy take several months, long after you have beaten the PvE. Each time you play through the PvE, its exactly the same. All the missions, all the skills, just about everything but monsters is in exactly the same place every time. Each time you enter a particular tile in the game, you know exactly what kind of monsters will be waiting for you in said tile. IMO, it gets old fast.
So, should you buy the game? Depends on how much you like PvP.
Nooooo not another thread arrrrgh!!!

Dear God why? WHY? Seriously why?
I just dont understand why every person has to ask 'should i get this game' and the calm people with lots if patience are blasted with the same question over and over again and some how keep answering these questions and keep their cool, seriously i take my hat off to you.
Come one dont be so god dam lazy and just do a simple search through the forum and you'll see around 1,000 of these threads and inside at least one your question will probably be answered. Just use your initiative.
Because most people aren't quite certain what to make of it.
It's worth checking out. It doesn't cost anything to play.
That said, if you are looking for a way to waste thousands of hours with little result this isn't the game for you.
i love how you are saying this, when only a couple of days ago you were asking in another thread whether you should buy GW or WoW...
interesting. i'm therefore assuming you haven't even played Guild Wars.
[we need a worldwide genocide/ a planetary suicide/ and when the whole damned world is dead/ there''s your f***ing peace]
buy it and ill give u a great item on it.... just tell me ur username
also teme i also relize u have no mmo. I remember reading in the WoW forums that u dont even have WoW. you have no opinion about any games. I have played both and did like WoW but no point of playing after 5 monthes so ya.... I got guild wars and Guild Wars is a very good game. But like every game it is gonna get repetitve. Though it is fun and worth getting since u won't waste money on fees. Back to teme. Teme u must be a little child who shouldn't even play a mmo. Wait till college or something. You shouldn't play games at agge 12. Study and hang out with friends, games are not healthy for little kids such as u teme. Ok you should get GW. I highly suggest it.
Edit: Ok just read ur profile stating ur 13. Ok really dude, don't play mmos, ur too young. Go along and play with ur friends.(well if u don't have any just make an imaginary one up lol)
Violence
lol....ur right .....how old are u teme???
P2P is good but i need free games
ok, sorry i haven't replied to any of you, i forgot about this thread lol. Well heres how it is, i Did play WoW for a little bit, first as a human warlock and then as a nightelven priest guy, can't even remember the name of the class lol, but it got OLD, i liked the quests and stuff, but i felt like there was no social aspect, I Hate Having To Solo - You feel so alone so after like 3 months of off and on gaming, i said to hell with it, i felt bad for never playing and wasting money, and beside that i just kinda felt like the game was way to repetitive. i don't like WoW... I think i might just try GuildWars, get my friend involved as well - No fee, great graphics and gameplay, who cares if it isnt a real MMO - it has online play - and i can quest with my friends in an emersive world!
My opinion is that it gets very repititive above level 16, All you do there from now on is Quest, pvp, quest, pvp
They try and fool people by making the 8v8 ladder Tomb of heroes, or whatever(haven't played in 3 weeks) and it's basically the samething, If you lose you gotta RESTART all the way back to the beginning, So I suppose if you like mindless quests and great pvp, i suggest you buy it.
I love my family
eh? Fool people? The hall of heros is a team of 8 teams of 8 and if you win the last match you get really uber loot and guild sigels. Even if you win a match you get fame points. I fail to see what so bad about that.
You have obviously just assumed the hall of heros was more pvp and havn't played yourself.

So you didn't buy it because it looked like a good game? You didn't play it because you thought that it would be fun? You didn't buy it because you thought you might get to meet some interesting people?
The only reason you bought Guildwars? Gimme a break.

P2P is good but i need free games
i think i shall, i'll either go out and get it monday or tuesday, i better have some friends going into this lol
Yeah...
How can you go wring in buying it its fun. Great graphics and there is no monthly fee. I have been playing it for quite some time in test pahases and after release. While i dont play every day like other gamers its a fun game that will keep me coming back.
Yea it is easy to meet new people and really nice people, first i would recommend buying the game with a group of your school friends and starting it off from there because as everyone knows thats always fun. However, you could join a guild at the start and you get friendly with the guild real soon. However, try to join a little more better guild then a non experience guild with no one in it because im pretty sure you will need the help later in game and the game might get boring because of the lack of support from you fellow guild and that your just playing by yourself. Good guilds will help you out in missions time to time or help you get a starter armor so you wont die to easily at the start. Also if your guild says they are asking every memeber to make a guild hall and ask for 1-2k of gold when you just join the guild just say no because its probably a scam. ~Well have fun with the game its a great game bye
