Wrong Game Wrong Time

Ok so you cant negatively review or discuss the advancement of this game on the Devs bulletin board.  It is basically fanboi propoganda  editted propoganda that is almost  Warlike in its attack on paying customers.  That leave places like this to discuss the real value in paying 15 dollars a month for this game.

The game has always had the potential but it is like a bad stock that never quite makes it into the Institutional investor limelight.  The game has after excuse after excuse managed itself into the duldrums of almost non existence.  All the development time left in this limit 1999 game engine has been devoted to not putting in tactical or strategic immersive  great things to do but actuallly putting into mechanic after mechanic to force the fewer and ferwer players into a  smaller and smaller environment.  After launching with one of the largest maps ever to done and having a huge  potential of being a continent wide war the limited advancement has created an environment where players spend hours trying to meet up for conflict.

The game is so limited in population and the population so fractured that  the devs have put in a side lock functions in an attempt to keep the game from swinging wildly one direction or or the other because one squad of players on a side have squad night.  Couple this with the players having to sit at the screen for their first minute of the game just to link up with their buddies with the fact that  the there is nothing to spawn after a second minute wating for spawn delay.  If you play the game for a hour   a day you may find yourself more waiting to spawn in than you have actually played.  This despite the  fact the game can suport thousands of players at once.

Then the games spawning rights or ability to get premium weapons in the game are driven by a very unique function called the High Command.  This is sort of a volunteer player directed arm chair General play mode in the game.  You get to decide attacks, movements of units and strategy in the map.  Great idea again but because of lmited players there are never any HC on to move the equipment so you can play the game.   When you ask the Rats to make the game like their China market version with auto supply movement they of course censor you as a paid up customer  and punish you for being non compliant with their design.  Sure it is there game and they can take it home if they want  but I think that was not  the point of the inital investors in this game that lost their money when the devs took the game into recievership.

For Ten years this game has lived on the fringe never really being anything more than a small unfinished product.  Once acclaimed and vehemetly defended even by myself as the right idea and the right direction  for  War Games Online.  Unfortunately this game has take a turn for the worse and attempted to not forge their own path but  trying to mimic the smaller game rooms on a too grand scale.  When the smaller room games are increasing their population to 128  seeing even that many in this game at one time would be a delight.

It's been a real hardship for me to give the game as low a score as it's getting. For me, very few games have seemed so exciting in their pre-release phase. I've been anticipating the electronic battlefield for some time now and while it's exciting to see this first attempt, there's still a lot of room for improvement. The primary issue seems to be stability. A game as unreliable as this one is currently isn't worth the $10 a month you'll eventually have to pay to subscribe. (PlayNet has not begun billing for this service as of the writing of this article.) But developers must also address the challenge of providing a game that's real enough to please hardcore fans but approachable enough that casual gamers will flock to the servers in sufficient numbers to provide a real sense of battle.

Had more fun in this game than most other games i played.  The brigade system really did it in for me with this game. it seemed to really change when they implemented it and for me it was not in a good way.

The chinese have auto supply? No driving a char for 40 minutes hehe. Sounds like a really good idea with low population. How can you supply a town with very few people?

I can feel your anger. This game is defenseless. Take your weapon. Strike this game down with all of your hatred, and your journey towards towards the Dark Side will be complete.

One very large issue with this game is that it gets so laggy around  computer AI flak and in towns occupied by more than a dozan players that when you shoot you get a report seconds later.  One of the big complaints in game is killing someone and they dont register it ... so they shoot back .. then when you see them drop dead you suddenly die from them shooting you.  In airplanes very often you fire at an enemy and dont see anything comeing back,  you dont hear anything and suddenly your foot is shot off in a text report.  It is almost as bad as those old Alkabeth and Dungeon and Dragons games that you hit the space bar and it said hit .. hit .. arrrggghh. at the bottom.

This with a 15ms ping and a normally 199 fps.

I have to agree with the kill registry issue. Forget all the brigade changes and AO crap, new players don't have a clue about these things until after a few weeks of learning the game. No, the real game breaker for new players is the kill registry issue which I am sure CRS are aware of but it should probably be their only concern right now. New maps, new toys, etc ... are all personal preferences but the kill registering issue should be priority number 1 for Battleground Europe. However I have to say it hasn't bothered me to the point where I get frustrated but I can certainly see new players getting a bad first impression from it.

Wow is right.  Let me put a few facts on the table.  Dev/GM's have never ever killed random players to change the course of a battle or to make it appear that more players are on-line or for any other reason.

The forum terms of service apply to everyone.  No one is given immunity, ever.

CRS is very aggressive towards cheaters of all types.  Spying included. Players that are caught cheating are dealt swiftly.

CRS has never ever bashed - publically or privately - customers of different ethnic or religious backgrounds, ever.

It's a great game with a very loyal customer base.  We are working very hard, as any MMO does, to increase our subscription count.

The two-week free trial is still available so give it a try and make your own decision.
