EA will kill this game.

The name EA which lurks deep in the shadows behind TOR and its development, I'm sorry to say it, but EA will destroy this game and any potential it had to begin with. They will knickle and dime you for every penny they can get. I can see it now, preorder for exclusive weapons, and other things that are part of or needed for core gameplay. It would not suprise me in the slightest if you have to pre order a limited edition to use 4 bags slots instead of 2, or having a unique questline that rewards a powerful item as DLC in a MMO.

Look at what is going on with Battlefield 3, corporate greed has destroyed their image in the FPS genre, mass amounts of people refusing to buy it, including the great Totalbuiscuit, who thinks it is a joke, and is part of the boycott. What makes you guys think EA won't make this MMO game worse? If they can charge you to teleport to an inn, they will find a way. EA has really never had a MMO game in their library of games, and when this game hits the shelves, or their online stone because they refuse to sell it to you on steam, they will find any way necessary to charge you for every little thing.

Buy GW2, or wait for Titan, this game will be destroyed before it even begins by the corporate big wigs behind the scenes who do things behind Bioware.

Sorry, but I see Activision and EA on the same level of 'corporate greed', you only have to hear Bobby Kotick talk or the story about the Infinity Ward split or the ruination of series like Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk with yearly copycat sequels (which MW tends to go the same way with the yearly sequels). Or the increased addition of paid services and items on top of WoW's sub. So no, I don't see EA as particularly 'evil' compared to other major game corporations.

As for BF3, it generated a great buzz on the E3 and I admit, it looked pretty good. Care to elaborate what's happening around BF3 that is so evil?

Common sense image Which means that this comment'll probably be ignored by sensationalists and doom mongers.

Sure EA may have some pull behind the scenes, but don't you think Bioware's first MMO ought to be given a chance? I've seen what can happen to many MMOs because of buyouts, takeovers, mergers, etc but that is no reason to spread EA hate to boost your Blizzard fanboism epeen. It seems you have already decidced you do not like SW:ToR so why not just let it go and and let people decide for themselves?

    DOOM!

Resembles Tardcore's doom mongering only that is actually funny.

I can't blame EA for cutting out Steam from the equation, really. Those guys are getting filthy rich by just middle-manning and Steam on my pc very much annoys me, I think of it as a leech. Should be more competition in the digital distribution market. Why should do they give that pleasure to someone else if they can sell their games themselves?

Also I am not so sure about your "EA will destroy this by trying to get more money out of you"; they already do get more money out of it in the case of Swtor because, as you mentioned correctly it's a mmorpg ... (and it will be sub based).

EA announced today that The Physical Warfare Pack (which will be available world-wide) will arm eager soldiers with the Type 88 Light Machine Gun, described as having “superior firepower;” a flash suppressor for the SKS sniper rifle that “reduces enemy awareness of your position” and is “the essential weapon mod for teamplay Recons at the front;” and armor-penetrating flechette shotgun ammo. All of these items will be 100 percent exclusive to the PWP.

While I do agree that the BF3 thing is...blargh, I don't think they are going to offer raid gear (which would be equal to some of the stuff from that preorder), it's sort of silly to say the sky is falling.  And you know, since activision/blizzard is perfect, roflolololtrolololol  really?

Lol. That sucks indeed. Great community protest, good! I agree, raise hell so that the EA guys will learn not to try stuff like this.

Do I think this makes EA any different from other big corporations? Not really, I see Kotick's eager flock at Activision try sortlike money grabbing tricks all the time as well.

Only option is to raise a loud and vocal protest when such measures emerge. I hope it burns this little venture right back to the hole it came from image

Well after what EA did to the C&C series, ive learned never to trust them, they have good developers, but they have the shittest management ever that do nothing but make stupid choices

Developers: The gaming community seem to have a majority vote to have this *object* in the game.

Management: Naaa, lets NOT give them what they want, and screw ourselves again!

But EA has already crossed the line multiple times, Activision just dances on it. Blizzard and WoW currently only sells cosmetic items like mounts and pets, sometimes for charity may I add, and other crap like mobile apps which you'd have to be really nerdy to sub too. EA milked Dragon Age 2 with terrible pre order crap, and ruined the game and the genre by making Bioware rush it. Call of duty has never made a Pre order bonus oh you get exclusive guns that no one else can get, or you get more HP or a perk no one else has, or other random crap EA would do instantly given the chance. Activision is evil yes, and sells DLC and micro transation items like cocaine, but they don't cross the line and alienate gamers like EA does. We all hate Activision, but you still buy their games don't you? Don't lie.

I bought Warhammer online, promised this great awesome experience, was HYPED to hell, and guess what, not only was it a colossal failure and broken / buggy but the retail version had a broken .EXE file, you had to go to 3rd party torrents, to get a fixed EXE, talk about fail.

I love Star Wars, and don't want this game to fail, I'd much rather it be in Activisons hands then EA, wouldn't you?

Lol I suggest you read more on BF3 then.

You get 1 DLC and 3 balanced weapons with the limited edition, that DLC minus the weapons can be bought post release for those who didnt buy the limited edition.

I'm not a great fan of DLC in general its charging us for what communities used to create but its certainly not overpriced DLC like a certain other shooter out there who charge £12 for a couple of maps.

For the record Bioware are very much a entity of their own within EA and call the shots themselves.

As others have said if you think Blizz or NC (yes I know GW is A-Net) are any different then I suggest you take a look at the amount of cash shop crap WOW and Aion have.

I think Activision is the devil these days.

EA since 04 and the whole "EA spouse" have massiveley improved their PR, working conditions and over the last 5 years have lead the way in creating quality titles and not regurgetating the same crap every year.

I'm a die hard PES fan and even I can say they have made great strides with FIFA over the last 5 years, then you have BF:BC2, Dead Space, ME 1 and 2, DA 1 and 2 and most recently a reboot of the NFS series taking arcade crap and shifting (pun intended) it to one of the best semi-sim racers for the PC.

EA genuineley have that feel of quality not quantity these days and looking at my steam purchases something around the 50% of all games I've bought in the last few years are EA games.

EA nickel and dimes people with DLC including day 1 DLC and with overpowered weapons in the case of DA2. I have an NPC in my camp in DA:O that wants me to buy DLC and there is an option for buying DLC in the opening menu of ME2.

As for quality, I wouldn't really know about that. I have yet to play a Bioware game that I can consider better than good. ME2 is barely an RPG IMO and I don't like the combat, DA:O is slow as hell and I dislike the combat system, the only class with any customization is the mage and the story is extremely generic and bland.

Never played any of the Battlefield games as I don't do generic, modern war shooters.

Never played Dead Space as I don't do zombie games.

Don't play FIFA as I don't play sports games and if you consider reskinning the graphics "making great strides" then by all means, all the power to you.

Just because you like EA and the games they churn out doesn't mean they haven't made extremely shitty decisions or that people don't like them for those decisions.

Meh they'll prob can swtor when it loses 80% of its potental subs by the time the free month is over since they'll be bored of it by then. I mean they canned Earth and Beyond which was doing really well at the time, just so it'd not compete with The Sims online which was a total failure from a business standpoint. I wouldn't count on EA to do anything smart with any game they touch, it'll get ran into the ground by them most likely. Would be nice to see a mmo do well though that doesn't just copy and paste the wow forumla but thats about all that has been coming out, is games trying to imitate wow in some obvious way *Rift I am looking at you as a prime offender of this.*

Anyway, best advice I can give is: Assume any hyped up mmorpg is going to blow chunks, that way when it doesn't you'll be surprized, its much better than being a moron and believing the hype then going all emo-nerd-rage when it doesn't live up to it one bit. With aion for example i looked at the flying system and that got me majorly hyped up that i got the game on release, then I get in game, get my wings and find out you can only truly fly in maybe 5-10% of the world, the rest you can just glide, needless to say I was not happy after how they went on and on about how you can fly and made it look like you can fly as much as you want anywhere.

Being a pessimist is a win-win pattern of thinking. If you're a pessimist (I'll admit that I am!) you're either:

    A. Proven right (if something bad happens)

    or

    B. Pleasantly surprised (if something good happens)

Either way, you can't lose! Try it out sometime!

The same is the other way around: just because you don't like EA or their games doesn't mean that other people don't like their games, or that other people care more about what EA is doing besides publishing games they like. On the side, others do recognize and acknowledge some of the changes for the better EA made the past few years, if you can't or won't, suit yourself.

All I said was that his liking of EA doesn't change the fact that they have made shitty decisions and those decisions have pissed people off. Nowhere did I mention or even hint that everybody disliked them.

And please, tell me what separates Battlefield from every other modern day war FPS out there. I've never played any of the BF games myself.

Battlefield is more or less the only game of it's kind, there are imitations, but none exactly perform all that well. Generic would imply it's one in a million of it's kind, which it clearly isn't. You obviously don't play them.

If you don't play sports games, how would you know all that is improved on is graphics?

Just because you want to live in a bubble and only play certain games, doesn't mean that any game you don't play is generic or of no quality.
