I love SW:TOR, I can't wait for it to launch, its going to be soooooooo good, I can't wait to slap things 83 times with my glow stick until it dies and then move on to the next thing to do the same thing. Mmm. Going to roolz.

'I can't wait to slap things 83 times with my glow stick until it dies' = showing little knowledge or experience with Star Wars games
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."
Yeah the combat is nothing new so that turned me off. I know soemone iwll respo nand say " but cimbat isn;t everything" and to that i say combat is a large chink of the game. Without an entertaining clmbat system i won't like the game. It might not kill it unless it is actually a bad system but i don't care for hotley gameplay anymore. Particularly press button and wait gameplay like we saw at E3.
It is best for the industry the MMO throne remains an dusty empty seat never to be filled.
I think there are two main reasons people desliked E3 presentation.
1) Ranged combat felt boring mostly because there aren't as many animations as when you swing LS. Also players we got videos from were not that good or exciting...
2) Tatooine. Maybe SW fans love it but for people like me(read "not so much into SW") seeing endless seas of sand was a turn off. It just felt too empty for me.
Thats said I think BW still has some aces to pull out and I still think its gonna be a GG.
The more I learn about TOR the more I want to play. Not because it's Star Wars. But because it's Star Wars done by Bioware! They seem to be honestly trying to put out a mmo that they themselves would enjoy playing, lucky for me it seems I would too. When most companies would take an IP like this and try to cater to every known Star Wars fan on planet Earth and risk f---ing things up, Bioware is sticking it's guns and making a Star Wars game that is first and foremost a Bioware one.
"Small minds talk about people, average minds talk about events, great minds talk about ideas."
The game looks fun and pretty but I still have the same problems I had when they first announced stuff.....it follows the movies way to much for something taht took place 1000+ years before the movies.
So smugglers are issued wookies and millenium falcons
all bounty hunters are bad.
the republic troopers all where well clone wars era armor.
the sith troopers now look like dark grey storm troopers, when in KOTOR they always wore shiny almost mirrored armor.
we got droidekas and star destroyers in the trailer for heaven sake.
The very nature of trooper and smuggler good, bounty hunter and agent bad is just stupid worse yet they only went over as far as I can see the moral choice system for the good guys havent heard anything about the other sides morale choice system.
I'd love to be a bounty hunter, just not for the sith, they needed a third neutral faction as well but eh only so much game you can get for a 300 million dollar budget
What we know: It will be on Origin only. Buy it and enjoy your personal information sold to companies(even says so in the terms). So dumb.
Incorrect, there are box copies going to be sold. Just the digital download version is going to be on origin.
Double incorrect!
You can buy the box but you'll still have to activate it through Origins. EVERYTHING is going to run through Origins. The bad thing is its going to take them a year to get the glitches out out of Origins. Hopefully your accounts won't be hacked while their fixing it...

Thank you for the clarification, Stephen. I have one more question, will we have to install Origin and run it in order to play the game, get updates, etc. even if we purchase a boxed copy?
No, you won't.
While Origin will be the exclusive digital retailer for Star Wars: The Old Republic (in other words, if you want to buy it online and download it, you’ll do so through Origin) that does not mean that Origin is required for you to access or play The Old Republic.
Origin is a digital storefront, and the desktop application is there to give you quick access to Origin exclusives and deals.
However, you won’t need to launch the Origin application to run The Old Republic, nor will you patch the game via Origin. Once the game is on your hard disk, you’ll be connecting to our servers to patch and launch the game, and Origin does not have to be running to do that.
To answer another question - boxed versions of the game will include the client on DVD(s).
you're saying downloading the digital copy will not require you to play it through Origins, only download it through Origins.
That is exactly what I'm saying.
The Origin desktop application does not need to be launched to play The Old Republic.
However, if you want to purchase and download the game digitally, you'll need to do that via Origin. As you can see if you visit Origin today, purchasing a title there doesn't require you to download the Origin desktop application. You might also notice if you look hard enough that Origin ships physical products (ie boxes) as well as digital ones.
(Yes, you'll still be able to purchase SWTOR at a local retailer.)
I will caution everyone with follow-up questions that it's a little early to be talking about this. When we announce pre-orders we'll have an extensive FAQ on pre-orders, Origin and so on.
Im looking forward to the game even if it is very similar to wow.It might play like wow but the game world wont be anything like it. Being in SWTOR as a virual world wont feel like youre in wow because of art direction and theme in my opinion. The formula works for wow and works well and Bioware know that... In most mmos I've played I dont read quests I just run from hub to hub for the most part and I have a feeling with this game im actually going to bother being involved in the story and get drawn into the quests and thats great!!!
Temporary battle cloak?? Starwars was never a forgiving universe, aside from the movies there are also books in which chewy gets blown to bits, and the yhuuzon Vong decimate anything, sigh...battle cloak is the begining of the watering down, sounds like they have become an easy version of what SWG was, everything I have heard and seen about this game SWG has already implemented in some form, raids, vehichles, companions and story archs ect..ect..
Bounty Hunters get a Jawa companion. Yes, you too can have your own adorable poster child for bad hygine, petty thievery, and used car salesmanship. I trust the little bugger's worth seeking out for something other then the lulz factor? Not that the lulz wouldn't be worth it, owning a Jedi pansy with a Jawa scav would be about as funny as beating down a Sith punk with an Ewok, ie: absolutely HILARIOUS.
Scorpio sounds potentially interesting, can't wait to see her story. mostly though I'm waiting for the next class progression video.
I think a lot of the bad press - or at least non-positive - press that Bioware has received from E3 boils down to understandable frustration that the launch date or even a rough ETA has not been issued.
This to be honest, its not that E3 was a let down, its not that their presentation was bad, its just that my excitement for the game has gone on "hold" now. I am apathetic about the drip feed of information, and the only bit I really care about is a release date so I can make my own mind up at this point.

Sweet, now we have people just plain making stuff up! As to this, it's a good post for sure.
When I first heard Old Republic was being made I thought: sci-fi MMO based on Star Wars, hmm I hope they're smart enough to realise that they can't just import a sword and sorcery template to sci-fi combat. In other words, if characters are standing around taking blaster bolts to the face, whilst action bar cool down timers refresh to gradually whittle away at NPC health bars, it will ruin the credibility of the world you're supposed to be immersed in. And all the while Bioware insisted no no no combat is going to be different and dynamic and there's going to be cover and lightsabre blocking and it will all be seamless and combat will 'feel adventurous' and Star Wars-y. And, what do I see from ALL the gameplay videos? People largely standing about taking blaster bolts to the face (with the odd, seemingly unnecessary, duck behind a personal force field) clumsily waiting for action bar timers to refresh, whittling away at NPC health bars. I'm going into suspended animation for five years, wake me if something new and interesting comes along in the meantime.

I gotta agree I'm pretty disappointed after seeing the battle videos. I hope it DOES NOT feel like what I'm thinking now when I get to play the game.

Remember in A New Hope when Vader had to hit Obi-Wan 5 times before Obi-Wan vanished?
Or, or, or, that time... when, when Darth Maul had to poke Qui-Gon 5 times before he could finally penetrate him?

All major AAA mmos are under that model.

Notice how he hits that mob like 10 times and the mob doesn't react? shouldn't he die in one hit? Is that wrong as well in combat?
