So I recently have purchased NWN:2 and all the expansions. I was continuosly reminded by the game or company that I had not registered the item online and I should do so. So eventually I did, and I made a NWN bioware account. Now about 2 weeks later I get this e-mail...
Yesterday (June 14), we learned that a hacker gained unauthorized access to the decade-old BioWare community server system associated with the Neverwinter Nights forums. We have taken appropriate steps to protect our consumers' data and launched an ongoing evaluation of the seriousness of the breach. We have determined that no credit card data was compromised, nor did we ever have or store sensitive data like social security numbers. However, hackers may have obtained your user account name and password, email, password, country and date of birth. As a result, we have disabled your legacy Bioware Account. We take the security of your information very seriously and regret any inconvenience this may have caused you. If your username, email address and/or password on the Neverwinter Nights forums are similar to those you use on other sites, we recommend changing the password at those sites as well. I am so freaking tired of my information being stolen by hackers from these "high end companies".
First Sony, quite a few times (and which I have boughten many of their online products/own a PS3), then EvE, now NWN...which is what EA? I might as well just give you all my e-mail adress with it's password, my college log-in name and password, my name, first and last with middle initial, my social security number, date of birth, city/state/country/zip code I am located in, my mother's maiden name, my first pet's name, the town I grew up in and everything else anyone could possibly want.
This crap is really starting to piss me off. Hackers and companies included. Get better protection or don't ask for so much sensitive data from me. As for the hackers, you guys really are pathetic, I could call you names, make fun of you, but what will it accomplish?...nothing. Just like what this post is accomplishing...nothing, except me venting.
Edit: Ok no sensitive data lost from EvE, but these recent strings of attacks whether completely successful or not are getting rather irritating, but I suppose that is the risk I run by engaging in the internet.
I am entitled to my opinions, misspellings, and grammatical errors.
