There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein "Graphics are often supplied by Engines that (some) MMORPG's are built in" - Spuffyre
My mistake on Xsyon - it's got a box fee and I think a sub price as well.

Well, regardless of your hate speech and clear homophobia, those games offer what you're looking for. So instead of spreading your hate, try them. They are free after all.
Think it stands for Pilot License Extension? or something like that. You can buy them in-game from people for ~300mil ISK (Ingame currancy) which can be used to extend your playtime by one month. 300mil isn't easy for new players to make of course.

Level Scaling has become part of the 'standard' that keeps people playing. It works because a lot of people seem to like it, so developers keep using it. I would think especially F2P developers because they need people to keep playing so there's more chance they'll buy something.
I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

This is bullshit
You can see everyday more and more people getting bored of WoW and asian grindfest and looking for sandbox/no levels/skill-based games. I'm one of them.

Developers are generally not a bunch of Neanderthals running around hitting keyboards with their clubs. Of course they are writing games that they want to play, but the more successful ones are writing games that players want to play.
There is some psychology going on with the level scaling, and for the most part it works. For every one person who sees it and does not get a jolt out of it (like you) there are many others who do get a jolt out of it.
It works, people (for the most part) accept it, even expect it, so developers use it. I think there will be more stuff coming out like The Secret World that doesn't use it so directly, but I don't see F2P developers doing without it on a large scale.

While it does seem that a larger portion of the market does prefer the level scaling system used in most MMOs, that market is almost completely saturated so any new game is going to be getting a very small market share of that portion.
If a developer would go after the neglected minority and possibly build something unique, they could have a monopoly on that market.
I love leveling systems. To me it is a staple of RPGs and I don't want to get rid of it.
The thing I find funny, though, is people like leveling systems and what levels to be a part of their MMOs. At the same time, though, what seems like a large majority of the player base want leveling to be extremely fast so they can read the "end game" quickly and start raiding/grinding gear/whatever.
For me, MMOs are inherently a lot funner when I'm not max level than when I am max level. I'm not big on the idea of an "end game". I loved the old long leveling experiences in games like Asheron's Call (did this game even have a max level when it came out) and EQ1, not necessarily because I'm a huge fan of long grinds, but because I like always having that next level to look forward to so I can get hunt in harder areas, get new spells, abilities, etc.

How is EQ2? Is it grindy like any other boring MMO or it has something special?
Also is there any game like Dungeon SIege/ Diablo? I really enjoyed that too.
