Dawn is in Beta??

It is a pretty funny read I suggest reading the whole thread.  I will copy and paste the OP because the thread is locked and I am sure will most likely be deleted soon.

Thats what a GM, or counselor, told to me right now:

I was traveling over the steppe with my horse full equiped with all the big bags full.I dismounted to regain stamina and feed the horse, when I mount the horse and I fall to nowhere and suddenly water.I was in the steppe with no water and suddenly im drowning with my horse, full of my stuff.

My horse died and I tried to loot but I only could to loot a couple of things because the loot just disapeared. Then I died too.

Since I was falling I called a GM but not one came.So I loose all my stuff, like 20-30g in materials, first because of the bug, known bug since before Dawn, and second because of the poor, or worst, GM team we have.

And what I get for response? That I am in a test stage of Dawn and he close the conversation, just like that.

So this is a beta? I am playing beta again? I'm not paying 14 euros for a beta, are you swindling the customers? I'm really pissed off, not only for losing my stuff but for the attitude of the company, GMs and policy.

PS.  As a side not notice it does not say GM or Anon where the gms name is for all the people that thought it was supposed to on the russian videos.

I think the problem with that response is that this isn't the test server.  This is the live server.  Unless they are compensating you for this "test phase" (which they should have announced in advance if they were doing so) how can they say play at your own risk?   The only alternative is not to play the game you are paying for...

    Very strange response.

If they want to use the liver server as their "test server" they really need to announce in advance that they are testing DAWN from day X to day Y.. and will add the extra time to everyone's account.

Otherwise.. as inferred in the title.. this is a forced pay for beta with no option to decline on the player's side.

from what i understand isnt that a post by a player who is taking their time out to help as an unpaid member of support staff?

I wouldnt take whatever they say as truth. Usually major problems are best disscused with a gm in irc or through help chat. But since you have all ready been responded to in that you can fill out a support ticket and then be refunded your losses at a later date.

there are 2 types of mmo, imitators and innovaters.

DS you and I both know that there is only 1 paid GM, and that is Discord.  All the rest are volunteers.  I just find it funny that the paid or unpaid support staff pretty much agree that it is a paid beta.

When a person responds to the support request in game they are representing the company.  One would assume he was given a script for replying to requests related to DAWN.  If this person was stating a policy that was NOT Starvault's then they should immediately be removed from their GM postion.   A company is responsible for people they allow to represent them.

Though I think it unlikely that this person was doing anything other than repeating the official line as he was told.

I find it funny that a volunteer uses ill-advised phrasing, someone takes a picture of it, and people argue the semantics of it ad nauseum on forums.  Such is the world we live in.

Is Dawn in a "testing" phase?  Just in the same way that Rise of the Godslayer came out with a lot of problems that needed fixing, or the Cataclysm pre-patch launched with a TON of problems (taking over 2 months to resolve), or the problems engendered by virtually every WAR patch that came from Mythic.  It's really no different.  Yet they weren't considered to be in "beta", nor did people expect to play for free, no matter the problems.  Dawn is pretty much is the same situation.

As I said, it's funny how selective some arguments can be.

That is generally NOT how all customer service reps work, unless you're a cold caller.  Scripts?  Please.  At best, you'd have talking points - a rep will still need to exercise interpersonal skills and the ability to think on their feet to be effective.

As Deathshroud and others have pointed out, the person in question is not a GM.  He's likely a volunteer.  While still a representative of the company, and should be removed for serious missteps, their mistakes don't necessarily reflect company policy.

     Really?

So.. the one MAJOR issue that a company has (New release of DAWN expansion rampant crashes and requests for help) would not have resulted in guidance to support staff answering questions in 99.9% of companies?

Thinking on their feet?  This isn't some random question.  This is related to the hundreds of crashes related to DAWN.  Something 99.9% of support staff would kind of have a prepared answer for.  I doubt 99.9% of companies would leave it up to a volunteer to determine whether or not the company would compensate for items lost.  As a matter of fact the GM (councellor.. whatever) SPECIFICALLY SAYS "THERE IS A NO REEMBERCMENT (sic) POLICY".  So either... that IS the policy.. from the company... or it's not the policy and he is lying and should be removed.

Personally, I do not believe the GM (Councellor.. whatever) made any missteps.  Looks to me like he was simply stating POLICY.  If you have some proof to refute that policy feel free to provide it!

For an entire day a new dupe bug had been exploited like crazy, having something to do with accepting transport task of golds that you just created yourself.

It's the 3rd dupe I saw from my own eyes and I've been in the game for a little less then 5 months, it's unsettling.

Is it in beta ? Hell yes. And like any beta, they should wipe and restart.
