For me EQ2 was to much of killing many things over and over again. It has good graphics and a decent fight system, but it just seemed that the higher level you get the more killing of things that just took longer to beat. Every now and then you would get some adds that you didnt plan for and things would get exciting, but for the most part you just attacked things you knew you could take and avoided things you knew you couldnt. Like I said, the most exciting parts for me were adds and you suddenly had to fight for your life. Getting the next new skill and the next new weapon didnt seem to matter much as the content is so well balanced that it feels linear.
WoW I only got to play during beta, but I plan on changing that in a few days when I get my paycheck. One thing I liked about it was that you never quite knew what might happen when you started a fight with another player or group of players. In WoW I've been in situations where I thought for sure I was going to lose to a group, but I ended up on top. You cant rely on a color scheme like blue, white, yellow, red, to give you that reassurance in those situations.
If you like hardcore pvp, Shadowbane. (Yes, pop is lower now than it used to be... but the summer will and new xpac will bring in some more fresh blood... Personally as long as theyre enough good competiton I dont care if there are 100 guys or 10,000... 100 good players are more of a challenge than 10,000 n00bs).
If you want a middle of the road game, Eve. Great graphics, but its hard to get anywhere very quickly...which is a good and bad thing. Its definately a good game too, but dont plan on being good until after summer.
If you suck ass and are 9 either WoW or Guild Wars will suit you great.
I forgot about toontown, thats another good option if your 9. I don't know if its really better or worse than Guild Wars, but theyre definately for the same crowd.
Must say that Eve is one the best MMO-game so far. The space may look, feel, whatever empty to the new player in that universe, but as fast as you get along with the controls, find some friends who problably are in a corp, you will sweep into the ongoing story of EvE where war, huge battles among many solar systems are daily events occuring... Let it take some time, and make your self heard in this game, then you will get rewarded.
I haven't tried out SWG yet, but signs of its update with CU sounds promising, yet more and longer enteraining then the great, but not long lasting, fun in WoW. But there more reasons I quit wow, which I'm not going to mention here due to the fact of getting flamed and get sticky poles pierced up in my A**. Sorry for my poor english, hope you understand.
This is a highly personal question. It really does depend on what you like.
I voted for EQ2 because that's what I'm playing now. I don't think it's the BEST game for everything, but I am liking it an awful lot for how often I can play right now, and for the friends I have in game.
Other games I am tempted to sign back up for if I had enough cash and time to afford more than one game per month:
WoW (A: because I beta tested, and B: because I have RL friend who play and keep me updated on the status) SWG (to try out the CU - somehow my curiosity is very high for this one all of a sudden) Anarchy Online Original EQ
Pretty much in that order.
Lineage 2 - Never again RyL - Never a first time Guild Wars - maybe but only to screw around. It's not really an MMO. It's an Online Competitive RPG. No monthly fee though. I may yet be tempted. For now, no.

I havent played any of the others you listed.
SWG so far. After that I'd have to say EVE
EQ2 and WOW are just re-hashes of EQ. EVE and SWG broke away from the mold.
Currently Playing: Dungeons and Dragons Online.
