Lulz, a group of hackers that has been behind the cyber attacks against other video game companies including Nintendo, unexpectedly offered to track down and punish the hackers who broke into Sega’s database.

In its offer to assist Sega, a Twitter post from Lulz hinted that its leaders might count themselves among a small but highly loyal group of game players who still play on the aging Dreamcast console.

“Sega — contact us,” Lulz said. “We want to help you destroy the hackers that attacked you. We love the Dreamcast, these people are going down.”

    hacker wars lol

I blame twitter and social media for this.  If you aren't following, these people  are simply attention seekers, and targetting the demographic of people who are most internet forum active, so they can watch people react to their childishness.  They have no means nor intention of helping Sega, and it's far more likely that they are actually the culprits.

And people are watching and giving them attention, just what they want.

I can't help but think that they are the ones that are gonna be destroyed XD

I mean you hardly hear, if at all, anything about "good" hacker groups because they know how to cover their tracks and then you got them boasting about some DDoS that basically anyone can get their hands on.

At first Sony, then Nintendo, now Sega. What's the hell! Why all the hackers attack the game companies? It's we players get the lost, but not the companies!

Codemasters were attacked too some days ago. I got an email about it from codemasters but it's in spanish so no point on pasting it here. Also, I got an email from bioware edmonton, the old NWN forums were hacked. http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/post/4293196/thread/319337#4293196

Edit: In the codemaster's mail it said they were turning their servers down until they could turn on a more secure infrastructure, in fact if you go to codemasters.com it link to their facebook page becouse everything else is turned off.
