One of the largest and most impressive booths at E3 2011 belonged to Nexon which was there in force to show off a pair of their ever-growing stable of MMOs, Vindictus and Dragon Nest. MMORPG.com Industry Relations Manager Garrett Fuller stopped by to check out the two games and has a report straight from the show floor. Read on!
If you have been playing Vindictus then you will be happyt o know that the Crimson Blades will be getting a new member with Karok. Karok is a bruiser character who grapples and destroys opponents through strength and fury. Carrying around a giant pillar as a weapon, Karok deals death with brutal tactics. The image we saw of the giant worms coming up from the floor and Karok grabbing them and pulling their heads off was just fantastic. If you like playing the power character that knocks down doors and rips opponents in two, Karok will be a welcome addition.

I was REALLY impressed with Dragon Nest. The graphics had me wishing for high-res texture packs but to be honest, I was so into the gameplay I didn't really think about graphics until I was standing around afk while eating and really bothered to look at the textures on my character.
The game reminded me a lot of Guild Wars, actually; multiple towns and hubs and from there you travel to instanced areas. Some people like that, some don't, but I think for this more arcade beat-em-up style of gaming, it fits really well. I can't wait for OB, I wanted so much to see the tier 2 classes but they were unavailable for CB T_T
Vindictus is one of those games I never stay away from for long. Took a month break now I'm back playing and enjoying myself again. Get those 60+ boats goin' people, my Evie needs exp!

Both are fun games worth trying..
Why is nexon completely ignoring europe on vindictus, really I have been waiting so freaking long to try it out, and I don't want to use proxy crap to play on us servers....

Why don't they just put a banner saying, Kiss our ass europe.
EU is scheduled to launch in Q4 of this year. It was mentionned by Nexon during E3 or slightly before that I think.
With LotRO, GA, CO, EQ2, WoT, BP, along others and soon AoC too turning F2P... why the heck would i even bother with with a crappy company that kept pissin on my head for a loooong time just because i was an European?
Hell no! There are plenty to F2P games around to spend my time... so they can very well add more playble models and even fully dressed in pink that i won't give a damn about playing it when they deem us worthy of touching their game.
.|.. Nexon ..|.
Okay...Two TOTALLY different companies. There's NA Nexon, and EU Nexon. NA Nexon has literally NO control on what goes on with Europe. I'm sick and tired of people going "God, why does nexon HATE europe??" No. NA Nexon and EU Nexon are two totally different companies, sure, they host the same games, and are part of the same chain, but all in all, they're two different companies.
Anyone outside NA is being fucked over in the case of Vindictus. I thought I would download the game, try it out a bit and if it was any good spend some mulah in the shop. When I had roughly 20 minutes left on my download I encountered a post mentioning that this game was for North America and Canada only. They could have freaking mentioned that at the download page or the account creation. Since I had spend two hours downloading the thing already, I was quite damn annoyed, but figured I could probably use a proxy.
After some searching, I discovered that Nexon is actually actively blocking proxies, AOL desktops and all other ways for people outside of NA to enter the game. Meaning I need to wait for the European version to come out, but when you take a look at their interest for European customers you can most likely understand I won't bother when it does come here. Their facebook account hasn't been updated since August last year. Their website says the notorious lie - Coming Soon.
Luckily enough there are better alternatives to this game coming out soon enough. I just wonder why the company behind this game is so retarded to miss their window of interest. By the time it will come out in Europe big competitors like TOR, TSW, GW2 and Tera might be out already.
I'm interested in playing Dragon Nest, I was a little interested in vindictus, but the character models give me a tiny headache just looking at stills.

Exactly the same thing happpened to me, well almost excatly. I fully downloaded the game, tried to run it, AND THAN encountered the problem (it was a few months ago). Imagine the irritation:D
Lol if its aint for Europe, THAN AT LEAST put up a sign that it aint for Europe, a$$wads!! (PS maybe they changed it now)
One final word; I see that our fellow players located in America are telling us to keep our cool, and they are right! But i wonder how the Americans would act IF WE IN EUROPE GOT THE GAME, BUT the Americans didn't-. I image it would not be pretty. :P
Cheers-
Ah well atleast they are still planning to do it. Game looks great.
Companies have leagal obligations and rights in certain areas.
They block proxies because users are the server hosts. Anyone outside the country bogs US user down and get crappy performance in the game when grouped together. This is a fact and I support it. It's bad enough having to group with players here with crappy connections. Nexon still needs to address lag/server issues, so I couldn't even imagine playing with peoplpe using proxies out of the country.
"Oh no I can't play a game"...yeah we all have to wait our turn. 9 out of 10 games come from Korean market these days, and we all have to wait to play. Find another game to enjoy while you wait for the ones you want to play come to your area.
whine whine whine
no, they are the same company. Its like Burger King, this burger king can control the other, but both are different resturants. NA Nexon and Eu Nexon are different branches of nexon which is the company, so you are right, you just said it in wrong way. It might confuse somepeople
Vindictus was so fun to play and I really enjoyed it, untill I got to the later stages and realized just how insane the pay to play, much less achieve really was..
Taken to a new level that just can't be tackled..
Not to mention how god awful every character/skill choice was besides a 3-4.. No variety because sooooo many characters where terrible, and so many skills wouldn't work.
I'm curious to know what you mean by "pay to play". The Cash Shop contains only conveniance items (Potions and such) and Cosmetic/Vanity like Avatars and Dyes. Perhaps you're talking about the Tokens? They were removed entirely earlier this month, meaning that they are not existant anymore and players can run as many dungeons as they want without restrictions.
I'm also curious about the "many skills wouldn't work". I've played all 4 characters (there are 4 now) and I've yet to find a skill that is not working, and searching on google does not provide any answers either, so perhaps you could enlighten me on this.
He didnt know how to perform them.
Skills, if you've played all the characters you know damn well the that characters like Evie may have a staff or scythe choice, but staff (was back then at least) amazingly pathetic in comparison to Scythe's ability to solo bosses, not to mention how 95% of players where Lann for the damage/pvp ability.
Cash shop wanted you to shell out money to even go to areas more then a under a handful of times.
Guess I didn't state I played it when the game first came out though..
