League of Legends: Season One - Day 1 Tournament Recap

The League of Legends team has posted a video look back at the first day of the League of Legends Season One tournament play. Over 950k concurrent viewers have been partaking of the action that will see winners score $100,000 in cash and prizes.

With a $100,000 prize, all of the fiercest competitors have been relentlessly battling to take first place. So far, Riot has seen over 950,000 concurrent viewers tuning in to watch the matches, surely an eSports record.

    must admit im starting to like this game more and more, its not exactly an mmorpg, but still.

    i even watched a few of the matches, and there were some very impressive plays, i hope they introduce some more game modes and maps though :)

    the viewer count was totally inaccurate, they were using a combination of players online in League of Legends + people viewing to get that number, what a lame tactic to make people think it's much better than it really is.

     Would you like to back up this statement with proof or possibly even use a single fact in your attack?

     

    Riot did a great job advertising their stream of the championships.  They provided links (not the stream itself) to the main tournament webpage from every one of their webpages and the LoL client itself.  Day 2 topped over 200,000 viewers at one point because of the huge fanbase for this event.

    This is false, the stream is hosted by own3d.tv and what you say didn't happen. The link on the launcher was just a link to the stream.

    This is false, the stream is done by own3d.tv and what you say didn't happen. The link on the launcher was just a link to the stream.
