Like the next-gen that everyone has been waiting on, FOR YEARS.
No more kill 5 of this, 5 of that bs, *yawn*
No more healer/tank shortages
No more pay monthly
PVP from level 1
No linear, boring quest lines that you don't even read. God, why did MMORPG's get so LAZY in story-telling.
Realm efforts against other realms! This sounds fun.
on and on. I'm excited.

Looks like fun sir, lots of exciting alternatives to mmorpg's coming out like diablo 3, which might be right around the time of guild wars 2, whenever its ready... tough to decide which one will win my few hours a week.
Super excited! Picked back up my old GW account, and was very happy to see I recieved my 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th birthday presents sitting in my pack ready to unwrap!
Come on GW2! Hurry up!
Looking forward to: Camelot Unchained
Playing: None
Played: DAOC, WAR, FFXIV, WOW, Vanguard, GW, GW2, LORTO,
Let gw2 take all the time it needs to perfect the game.
Duke Nukem Forever is a prime example as to why you shouldn't take all the time in the world
Yea, but remaking a game thats 12 years old is hard, but this company just was rediculouse, guild wars 2 released information 2 years ago, but what people dont understand is that they are giving you "the insider" of the development, not juicing you in...well maybe a bit
remaking Duke Nukem should never have been hard. Start with a decent graphics engine, recreate the dozen or so different mobs from the original, add a few new ones. Throw in some scantily clad women and one-liners and you're done. Being compelled enough to actually work instead of floating on your previous windfall is whats hard.
All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.
I get banned in the forums for games I love, so lets see if I do better in the forums for games I hate.
I enjoy the serenity of not caring what your opinion is.
I don't hate much, but I hate Apple© with a passion. If Steve Jobs was alive, I would punch him in the face.
Yea but they had to create DNF for the huge change that has happened to the FPS games, they implemented the whole only two guns rule and a recharging health bar because that's what FPS games are like nowadays, they sold the brand's soul to create a game more mainstream to the wider marker since every avergae joe who hardly plays games at all will most probably have CoD for their games console.
Whereas that's not the case for Guild Wars 2, Guild Wars was a bad ass game and hopefully Guild Wars 2 will be even more bad ass-er.
We're all Geniuses. Most of us just don't know it.
Sorry but guild wars 1 is a horrid game, it's heavly instanced and no freedom at all..and it holds your hand the whole time. Was so bad i just cant put into words.
Fixed.
Plenty of kill x of this but you'll have more of a reason to kill x of this.
This is not a game.
Are you guys talking about SWTOR? Even GW2 forums like us? sweet well im glad you gusy are excited. Cant wait to see you in game.
Except for kill 5 of this (both games have that, just do it differently), this is fairly accurate.
The base mechanics, combat, and aesthetics are drastically different though.
That's funny, because sometimes I think the same thing when I see people talking about SW:ToR 'Hey. That's the same sort of stuff that's in GW2.'
I think it's pretty obvious to most decent companys where there are some problems and lacking parts in current MMOs, just people are going about trying to fix those problems in different ways.
SWTOR is doing nothing to change the game on anything other than adding voice acting to everything, and maybe a deeper storytelling. Yet, if BioWare's storytelling in SWTOR is anywhere near as horrible as it was in Dragon Age 2 then I doubt even that will help. GW2 will be changing it, and you're not gonna get a generic kill X. You're going to defeat the waves, because they are actually doing things to the world. I don't even have to explain that, you know.. SWTOR is going to offer more of the same in a different light, GW2 is changing the game.
Fixed
What I don't get about this whole GW2 changing everything is that, it actually isn't changing much,
it isn't about new technologies,
it isn't about more work on the game,
it isn't about better graphics
all it is, are just design philosophy change, the redesign of class roles, the presentation of quest (quest comes to you, instead of you going to quest)
Everywhere, with a bit of change, can actually change to this kinda system, instead of having 50 billion rats walking around in the farm, having them spawn when a player is nearby.
My interest in dynamic events isn't about the whole events happening in the world, they are basically festival events that games nowadays patches in each month, but more about the events giving you a choice to change something in the world. Just like ArcheAge's persistent house building, these events changes the world according to your efforts, you get to shape the world in some way, not going to be a game changer, but it is a change nonetheless.
The choice in the events are actually, IMO, going to set the game apart from others, it requires the developers to consider each events cause and consequence, now this requires more work than your generic MMOG. Rift's dynamic events aren't connected to each other, you won't have a persisent change in the world.
How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW?
As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.
SW:ToR is also doing things with the holy trinity, they're just trying to work within the confines of it, while GW2 is changing things up more.
Both of those games (And Rift) and many other games are trying to fix many of the common problems with the trinity, like having problems grouping, the need for classes like tanks/healers and so on.
They're just doing it in different ways.
You may like GW2's solution more, but that doesn't mean the SW:ToR people aren't aware of the problems, or aren't trying their own particular solutions.
Also, both games have voice acting, choice making a difference in story telling, small group sizes, more PvP accessibility, attempts to reduce grind, removal of autoattack and so on.
I personally like GW2's attempts to change things more, from the looks of it, but that doesn't mean I don't see where SW:ToR is trying to fix the same problems (Just in different ways)
