UPDATE:

Guess what I just called ShopTo to check if the release date was correct on their site, and she said 'that is the information they have from the supplier'.

I asked if their supplier was EA? She did not discount the fact that it was EA. It's quite possible it was EA' she said.

She did say release dates change all the time but she stated confidently that 'this is the date they received from their supplier'.

That would make sense with the Origin release scheme that people found.

Read the comments below the product at the link you provided. It seems that Sept 9, 2011 is not the first date they had listed.

I'm not saying that it wont release in Sept of this year. But it seems that link is not as reliable as you first thought.

I could see this happening, but I would like them to keep it untill 2012, the more polish and content the better before release.  I like how they are doing year long alpha and now beta testing, although I bet it's hardly beta, who knows.

Those were in 2009. now we are very close to release, the game is basically done.

Something else that might help clarify, Today, All of the online retailers put their prices for The Old Republic up.

GAME is now listing it for 37.99 for instance, Play.com is RRP 34.99 Amazon is RRP 34.99, Shopto is RRP 34.99

It wasnt like that a couple of days ago.

That EA boss-guy said that SW:TOR would go "high-beta" in July in the EA Conference call thing, whatever it might mean.

StephenReid General Discussion -> Release Window Speculation

The release date window is the second half of 2011, and nothing has changed in that regard. Any other date you may hear at this point is either misinformation or an outright lie.

Ain't no way they're releasing on a Friday!  Just saying ;P

I have to say that I would love to see a September release date, but until I see an official announcement, I am just going to figure that everyone is trying to drum up hits on their websites and sales numbers.

They need to tell me a release date so I can take the week off. GRR.

She's probably just trying to get you to preorder :P

Having a look around on the UK sites Play.com and GAME both have TBC as a release date.  I'd like to know where Shop.net gets their info from....:P

Well, I might be wrong but the region is UK and games in UK and rest of Europe generally come on Fridays (3 days after US release).

Well, something's up. On the 20th, the "Release Date Speculation Thread" was locked for "cleaning up purposes" on the official forums.

Then, the 21st, we have this leaked release date now, the 22nd, the same link that last night showed a release date of 9/7/2011 says "this product is no longer in our database" yet shows a picture of  the box from "Knights of the Old Republic" yet the video of "The Old Republic."

    Looks like someone messed up.

My guess is that release dates were sent out to distributers. Shopto jumped the gun with publishing it and now EA has had them remove it until the official announcement.

The fact there is no possibility of discussing any release date information on the official forums, lends some credibillity to this theory, imo.

I may be wrong but I created an account, after reading this site since the NGE of SWG, just to post it. So, even if it's wrong, it accomplished something.

For the record, I love a sandbox game but TOR was never going to be that game. I'd love some "sandbox" features but being upset they aren't in there is something I won't do. Bioware is delivering, for the most part, the game they promised (with the exception of combat but the beta testers don't seem to see the same issues that I do so I might be wrong.)

September seems realistic, the game has been in development for a very long time now.

But I have learned not to get my hopes up and instead be satisfied as long as it comes out by Christmas.

I agree.  As much as I wanted to the game to come out sooner, as long as its by Xmas, I will be ok.

September seems a good choice, soon enough to capitalize before Diablo III goes out and it gives them aroudn 2 months to stabilize after the launch mess for Christmas sales.

well it is fishy, the game has been taken off of shopto's website, obviously EA told them to take it down.

mark my word guys i am betting the release date is 9th september.

    :)

September really isnt that surprising. I figured when they announced the Star Wars Complete Saga is releasing Sept 16th on bluray that this would be a perfect month to release SWTOR to maximize George Lucas's profits by the means of royalty / license fees.
