Wizards and Champions sounds cool. Too bad for him though it sounds like ZeniMax Online is working on Elder Scrolls Online. And the announcement almost seems overdue considering they've been working on something for 3.5-4 years. Skyrim is probably holding up the announcement as to not confuse gamers with multiple ES games being promoted.
I'd be psyched to play a TES MMO! It will be interesting to see how true to the design they stay. If it happens I can honestly expect to be stunned by gameplay, graphics, and storyline.
On the business side, I don't see their release changing much of the potential of WAC. Micro Indies are successful if they pull a couple thousand players over a years time. WAC is more of a novelty than a serious competitor, especially since it's free with no cash shop (sponsor driven). Also, WAC runs on old hardware. I'm quite sure anything from ZeniMax Bethesda will need mega-hardware to support the eye candy.
Back to work... and btw: Thanks for the mention MMORPG.com. I'll be sure to send some exclusive video when release gets closer.
I've been checking out your MMO on and off as well, checking on its progress. As a fan of game design, an aspiring designer myself, and an even bigger fan of "grass roots" indie game design, I admire anyone who ignores the nay-saying of the "you'll never do it!" crowd and proves them wrong... by doing it. So +++ respect to you for "doing it" .
I see you're sticking with Torque technology.
Are you still using TGEA, or have you moved on to T3D?
I've been working away at a MMO design as well, and had been planning to use TGEA (initially) and then T3D to prototype it and then, potentially, use it for full production. I just really always end up hitting a wall with it where certain, very basic things seem far more complicated than they need to be. GG has some fantastic ideas and features in their engines (especially with T3D), but their implementation is typically lacking, in my opinion. I feel like I'm fighting with their editor more often than creating with it. But that's just me.
So, I've been bouncing between the Leadwerks engine and the Esenthel engine. Each has its benefits, and I've been a fan of Josh Klint's (Leadwerks) products since 3D World Studio was their only product... very well designed and "artist friendly" interface. In the end, though, I'm really leaning toward Esenthel. Beautiful engine, excellent editing environment, and amazing terrain editing system (truly streaming/seamless terrain and supports collaborative editing by multiple people at the same time), and as of relatively recently, built in MMO support.
In any case... Will definitely be following your game with much interest and will definitely be playing it when it's ready.

If this game ever comes out, it will be the best mmorpg ever made.
I've followed this a bit for awhile and unfortunately it looks like they've decided to turn it into a game engine they can sell to developers. I think they want to make an actual game out of it as well but that's on the back burner for now.

Don't you mean 'ever comes out as advertised'? It's easy to list a lot of great features, harder to bring them all out. Heck, there's big time game developers who don't bring out half the features they tout.
You can fly from deep space and land on a planet without a loading screen. Thats all you really need to know about Infinity. Best MMO engine ever.
I dont think that all of the titles are categorically 'not heard' of', but might be completely ignored for good reason of association. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIn1_9YvGds
I'm using TGEA version 1.7.1 with the MMO extensions from MMOWorkshop.com. I have T3D licensed but won't delay WAC for the six months or more that it would take me to debug it and get all the MMO functionality to stability. I've seen some amazing visuals from T3D but to me the performance hit isn't worth it. TGEA doesn't give me OSX support, but with a few mods it runs fast on modern hardware and fairly well on old... as far back as my 2002 model year laptop.
The only reason Torque worked out for me is because I'm a coder. Having full source gives me the advantage that I can fix most issues on the fly when I encounter them. Even so there are surprises. For example I had parallax mapping [video] working and ended up having to pull it because objects mapped with parallax no longer obeyed the rules for fog.
I can totally relate to the comment about "fighting" with the engine instead of creating with it. It's been the same here. I could have made a much better game if I hadn't spent so much time on the engine.

Heard of everything except Galatic Online and Wizards and Champions.
Pretty sure I will play Dead Frontier and World of the Living Dead mainly because of my professed love of zombie games. I even played Urban Dead a text based zombie game for years.
Wooo.... I really have not heard about them... But I think there're still many games I've never heard. And there're also some games I know only german name....
Galactic Command Online is very much a happening. The website was updated about two months ago and is now located at http://gcommo.com. Since it is based on a hardcore IP, the game is purely for hardcore gamers (not the Eve crowd kinda hardcore since that game is just a spreadsheet in space, for the most part).
We're currently working on a more accessible game, Line Of Defense (http://lodmmo.com) due out in early 2012.
GCO will hopefully show up in the 2013 timeframe.

Last I checked, Wizards and Champions was going to be some kind of simplistic MMO version of facebook. I remember reading something by the developer where he described his game (and this is from memory so it isn't exact) as being able to be picked up and played immediately, with some kind of emphasis on things being simple. It didn't come across as even remotely like TES in any way, but more wanted to appeal to the mass media social side of gamers.
However, this was quite a while ago, probably around 6 months to a year. Wizards and Champions guy, can you confirm if your game was ever like this and if so, if this is still the direction you're taking it?
I make it a point to use the Game List and check out random titles, hoping something may hold me longer than a week or find some amount of value in a random game. Out of all of these, I haven't seen or checked out Empire & State before. Pretty random list though, feels like a selection i'd open in a bunch of new tabs and read a bit then close.

As much respect as I have for the developer, Wizards and Champions will never go anywhere unless he gets a team together. He has been working on the game by himself since he started. You cannot make an mmo by yourself, it is just not feasable with the amount of competition out there and all the quality Free-2-play options.

Almost forgot. Maybe not an mmo, but a Diablo-esque action-oriented rpg that looks awefully swell. http://www.grimdawn.com/index.php
