Wouldn't it be nice if subs dropped enough so that they had to cancel DUST and WoD? I mean, in a fiendishly delightful sort of way.
CCP needs a reality check and a major change in direction and business philosophy. That means suspending DUST and WoD until EVE is generating expected revenue.
What are some words/phrases associated with CCP right now? Arrogance, Unprofessionalism, Denial, Out-of-Touch, Deception... when you think of what CCP used to stand for - Passion, Straightforwardness, Humility - it's a frightening transformation.
Maybe all of that was a fake image created by the PR team, and now has shattered.
No, I don't think so. CCP started as an indie company and I believe they just never "grew up", or they became more successful than they'd planned and became arrogant. They never created a detailed vision of the game's future; they just said, "Oh, we want to create an amazing Sci-Fi MMO." Not only spaceship-based, but incorporating planets and avatar elements (DUST and Incarna). I think they started as gamers and MMO enthusiasts, which is part of the reason why it's sad.
Edit: I probably got humility mixed up with pride, haha. I think they've always been proud of their product; it was a work of love, until it started losing money.

i dunno...i smell "fake" and "troll" all over this email....
Same thing was said about the newsletter.
the news letter looked like a professional internal document....this was leaked to a radio show with no physical proof other than text. I can do the same shit too.
trust me i am not white knighting CCP...i am still fuming over the newsletter, .but i think someone just trolled eve.
Real or not, the atmosphere surrounding EVE right now is precisely that of SWG in November 2005. Players lashing out, a few hopefuls holding out for a remedy, and a few who chalk it up to a vocal minority, all in the shadow of a company that no longer seems to "get it".
The finer details might not be the same, but the shitstorm sure is.

i dont think its anything like the NGE....i think its worse. IF they allow any sort of MT for game enhancing skills or skill points...that destroys the entire balance of eve.

Same source however. *shrugs* I'm going with "real" but with no certainty, so I'll just wait. The sad part is how plausible the mail is. For something reading like satire..

the radio host recieved an email from someone claiming to be the same source...the original was not broken on eve radio, but this one was....they have 0 way of no way of knowing if it is in fact the same source, just the claim of the "leaker"

The scenarios are not even remotely the same, in SWG's case we had a game that was horribly broken in many aspects, which were never tended to. Then they blame a lack of success on the sandbox formula used in it's creations. Not the parts they would never fix or improve on. They then gut the entirety of what made the game special and then offered up a horribly broken skeleton of what it once was.
What's all the outrage about with Eve? Conjecture, cosmetic RMT and inner corporate practices we have very few facts on the workings of or culture within.
I look at SWG as the case of child neglect.
I look at EVE as the kid who was given too much for too long and now doesn't know how to accept the word no.

The community backlash, however? Hell, I had a case of deja vu just reading through those threads.
This is the reason the thread got nuked, draw what conclusions you like from it;
Guys and girls,
The forum rules are quite explicit and our job, on the Community team, is to enforce those rules. Rule number nine states:
'Private communication between the Game Masters, Eve Team members, moderators and administrators of the forum and the forum users is not to be made public on these forums or by any other venue. You are not permitted to publicize any private correspondence (including petitions) received from any of the aforementioned.'
The rules are clear, posting any private communication from any member of CCP is not permitted on ths forums.
What changed in this expansion? I tried Eve Online for the first time a month or so ago, found it to be terribly dull, but pretty, though to be perfectly honest i only played for about a week before i gave up.
If people are complaigning as that email says it indicates something changed, can anyone tell me what changed?

Still, mods going lotka.org is worrying.

the thread got nuked
BestSigEver :P
They just deleted the thread about the mail leak.
Doesn't look good.
This should be made into a sitcom.
Why not just lock it and say 'false email'?
That'll pacify the playerbase reaction somewhat but this 'delete and pretend it doesn't exist' is so 'before the interenet' it is not even funny.
This is the Internet, nothing is really truely deleted.
Gdemami -
Informing people about your thoughts and impressions is not a review, it's a blog.
Hmm not sure if it's alowed on these forums but anyone willing to make in game bets on weather or not this email is real?
If so I'm willing to bet 200 mil isk on real
odds of 1 to 1
Edit:
Ok I'll give you odds of 10 to 1. waiting on actual confirmation by a dev.
Into the breach meatbags

I kinda want to like that game.
Sure makes it look real doesn't it?
