in Guild Wars
I have a couple questions. Im hoping to find another mmorpg to play and i heard a lot about guild wars. First, is guild wars a well pvp oriented game? Second, is the lvling balanced; not to fast, not to slow? Third, is the world of "Guild wars" large?

Its very PvP Oriented, You will be lvl 20 towards the end, its exteremely large. Been playing since it came out and still havn't been to all the places.

1. GW is all about the high-end pvp game. It is to the mmorpg world what counterstrike is to the fps world. That's not just developer hype.
2. The leveling is unimportant. You will reach level 20 quickly and be able to adjust your character to a large degree at any time.
3. GW is average size for an rpg but it is not a wide open world. It is much more like a single person rpg in storyline and world design than any mmorpg.
It is not a traditional mmorpg. It's more like a single person rpg with the most enjoyable pvp ever, set in an online world. I am long time mmorpg gamer and I won't bullshit you -- don't expect a mmorpg. GW is much less filler and much more fun.
you think WoW levelling is fast? i agree it's not slow like EQ, but it's still slow and a grind. Guild Wars you don't even need to think about levelling, it just happens as you complete the quests.
if you want a grind, GW is not for you. but i think if you want a grind then you need help. thats like wanting to be stuck in traffic

PvP is really cool in this game. However, you will need to make an RPG character first to build up your skills. I made a pvp char first and got pwned. Now that I have my RPG I kick ass.

Guild Wars has great PvP. And the fact that you Role Playing Character contributes to your PvP character is very cool. I say this is a must buy because of the great gameplay and no monthly fees.

Yah, i heard that Guild Wars is a great MMORPG and i was thinking of buying it, but i want to know something... are the guild battles fun, where two guilds go head to head?
i use to be a hardcore FPS player , since doom1 passing all of them , and still play HL2DM and CSSource ..
i must say , pvp in guildwars , gives you more in some aspects ..
there are some places where 6 or 8 teams of 8 person fight in the same area , thats about 64 person pvp ...
i have been playing GW for some weeks , but i never gave much atention to pvp , cose im a newbie in rpg , so i wanted to see whats all about , i got really adicted , and im loving it ...
a few days ago , i decide , ok i have to go to the hall of heros , i cant stand it anymore , seeing the favor of gods always with korea , and everyone talking about it ... so i went
jesus crist , pvp is even more adictive then the role play , that is already fun fun fun and fun
pvp in gw , is pure adrenaline !

PvP is fun but i think its more fun when you go with your role playing character rather then a premade lvl 20 with limited skills.
The tactics and what can happen in a game are amazing, today i was gobsmacked as i went to the hall of heros with 4 henchmen (npcs) and won the first match, a 1v1 with a group of 7 lvl 20s.
What happened was this.
I was pretty pissed at us not having the hall of heros so i wanted to go into the big 8v8 games and just run round killing other teams priests (respawn point) who we'ren't our country. Unluckly i had to first beat one team and the team was my country. So i thought "ok i'll let them win so they can go on". I took my ghostly hero out and made him wait ahead so they could kill him first while i stood back.
This was when one of them said "lol noob guild" and that really annoyed me. So i went for him with the henchmen (he also happened to be one of their healers). When this happened i somehow managed to kill their whole group down without a ghostly hero at (some of them logged off after dieing).
I then replied "lol noob team, owned by henchmen".
I couldn't believe it, they were so disorganised that i was able to beat them, just like on counter-strike, if your team isn't focused you're going to get owned.

its has a sub par rpg grind fest and some awesome pvp ..but unfortunatly you have to grind your ass 80hours just to be competitive/unlocking skills for a single char...
Kinda got to agree with Precusor.
The PvE gets old, in a hurry as it never changes.
PvP is the games shining point, by far, but to be cmpetitive, you just have to do a huge amount of grinding/farming.
