Okay, about a year ago, i didn't play this game because of the TERRIBLE graphics.

Now, my friends got me into it after showing me the new zones... although they still look dated, they are pretty solid and I cant really see anything wrong with them except for one thing...  THE GRASS!!!

In my personal opinion, if EQ just added some 3D grass, the games graphics would rival any other. Sky looks great, water is AMAZING.  the grass is the only thing left out!  What do you guys think?

((im not a flamer, I LOVE EQ!!! Its just that having no grass is kinda odd... lol))

    um, dude, EQ2 doesn't even have good looking grass, so, really, EQ 1 isn't going to get it either realisticly speaking

    its a bad sign when your opinion is soley based on graphics, needless to say...the grass? Theres so much more to a MMORPG or even any sort of game than graphics. In my opinion, the graphics in EQI are still considerably great.

    ok basing ur whole perspective of a game on how good its graphics look,let alone its.....grass....is pretty pathetic.EQ is an awsome game,and one of the best games to prove that looks dont mean a damn thing

    The graphics in EQ are not that bad,at least not that bad that one has to come on here and complain about em,i have seen a hell of  alot worse.

    I'd say the graphics are pretty good overall. At least nothing to get upset about. And they're working on a graphic update as well...there's a link with some info in this thread:

    Well, that IGN article is from last year (I remember reading it)---so does this mean that they've already completed this new graphics engine update by now??
    If so, do you have to own ALL the expansions to see it, or would I get the benefit of it from just buying EQ Plat version??

    I'm on the verge of buying EQ Plat since I tend to get bored with EQ2 every now and then....
    But I can't seem to get an answer to my ever burning question:

    IF I buy EQ Plat does it contain the new graphics (since it has the first 7 expansions), OR do I have to buy the last 2 expansions as well??? Considering that it's time consuming, I don't believe that I would be able to see the content in the last 2 expansions anytime soon since I'd be starting from scratch (and playing for the first time as well), so I don't really want to spend the money on them if I don't have to; I'd just like to be able to see EQ with it's updated graphics.

    SO....can anyone answer that for me please???

    Boy if ya worried about a bunch of freakin grass go out side and play the gameplay is whats the key factor of any good online game people have simply gotten spoiled by graphics.

    Graphics are important to me, but grass isn't really that big of a deal.

    Well, you might have given some basis for comparison... like, are you still using w98.2, 256MB system memory, a PIII 700MHz cpu and a cheapo MX $20 gpu, well expect terrible graphics in the now DX9 EQ1.
    Or do you just want to slam the game not wanting any suggestion to improve your view. ?Have you gone through the tech section in the knowledge base (EQ home page) to make sure your system is up to date, ? are you playing through a laptop, or a game-boy?!
    Having lotsa frivilous display is quite graphics intensive, and unless one has a near 3GHz cpu, 2GB ddr and a near $400 gpu likely your system would not be capable of posting all the eye-candy and still have a decent fps game play.
    If it is display goto EQ2, it is a bit more in the flashy display and dumbed down character strategy playstyle. EQ1 is a bit more hard core where knowing your class's skills is a definate group enhancement factor.
    For a modern solo play and fancy graphics, you might want to try Elder Scrolls 4, Oblivion.
