With 350,000 subs dropping 3,600 is a mere 1%. You wouldn't be able to notice it. The margin of error just for day to day fluctuation of usage is greater. They'd have to drop 10 times that many to make even a small dent.
At a loss of 600-700k in annual revenue, believe me they notice it.
Originally posted by sigurd57 I still don't get the drama involved in all this. I play EVE, I'm not upset, because I guess, I don't care. Times are changing folks. All MMOs seem to be going the whole "Freemium" format, or some kind of strapped on cash shop. (even the might WoW will sell ya a reskinned flying creature for $25.. on top of your monthly sub.) I guess I looik at EVE like this. There are people who already have a 6 year SP advantage on me. What the hell do I care if people want to waste RL money to basically do the same thing? If CCP makes more money, they produce more content, speed up development, etc. If people want to "Pay to Win" as the argument seems to be here, ok, so what? At this point, anybody starting EVE or who hasn't played since release is already at a disadvantage, so who's complaining? the 7 year+ vets afraid to lose 'god mode'? The new people who can never catch up? I mean really, i don't get it. OH... And let's all remember to freak out over something that is not even OFFICIALLY planned or committed yet for the game! Besides, the whole "Protest in Jita" B.S. sure, laughable, cute, but about as cute as the 4 year old screaming at his mom in the department store for not buying him an action figure. I just don't get it, it's like people just need something to bitch about. So since SWG is finally being taken behind the shed for its bullet to the face, now EVE will be the bitching post for MMO players??
You know Siggy, I understand where you're coming from, as I have only a character that's a few years old, nothing in comparison to those 7+ year vets, but its about the broader implications about what they're doing. I pirate in game and it will upset my balance as I know who and what to go after and watch out for. An character that's six months old flying a battleship? Hell yes, please, I will destroy the fuck out of that as that ship doesn't had tech 2 guns or armor, it's an easy win. But if they start throwing out "I Win" stuff, then that BS I'm about to take out is going to throw me through a loop.
Furthermore, if they start selling ships, and other special little things on that shop, its going to send the economy (which is already fucked up) into a spiral with flooded items, or overpriced items.
All in all, it's just a fail.
"And after blizzard takes over the world, they are gonna gather a bunch of lemmings, sit on their fat asses near a cliff, and watch the little fuzzy bastards suicide dive into the ground below. . . . . all just for their own entertainment."
