Please hang in there while the DEV's get the server prepared for the mass influx of players.  The Perpetuum DEV's are excellent about listening to player suggestions and complaints and really work their asses off when things are fouled up.

All in all you will find that the game is quite stable.  Some of us USA players and especially Aussie players have had network issues, but that is due to the server being located in Hungry. The more players we get, the faster Perpetuum can spend money on making hardware and network improvments.  Hang in there.  EVE went through it's issues when it released too.

Perpetuum has been one of the best 'release-worthy' MMO's to come on to the market lately.  It kicked off 2011 nicely after the disasterous season for MMO's that was 2010.  The price is reasonable and new players really won't be that far behind.  Like EVE, you can fill a viable combat role rather quickly.  Obviously the bigger stuff will take some time.

I dont buy this "we had to upgrade servers for mass influx"

There were more players a monther after release than there are now even with this 'mass influx'

so we know the game can handle it, and if it needs to upgrade because of a few hundred more active players then.. well something else is wrong =]

In anycase, Eve players arnt inpatient and understand that patches and servers can break.  They dont need to be molly coddled or reassured.  Just need regular updates from devs which there does seem to be on the forum and irc

  • BoyCBoyC Member UncommonPosts: 89

There have been a lot of architectural changes since launch so yeah the server can't handle that much atm. We are working on it around the clock.

  • ButtskiButtski Member UncommonPosts: 187

It looks like their server can't even handle ~500 players oO

This series of events twists and turns like a twisty, turny thing. CCP what happened, man? You had it all. Well, you still have mostly but somehat less. Onwards to Perpetuum, eh?

Welcome to all, take a seat and have some warm hot chocolate beverage while BoyC and the others repair the Array. :)

Waves at BoyC. Yeah been playing off and on all day today. Seems pretty fun so far. I think the Goons are coming in force so NEX and goons will prolly be warring very soon lol, like tonight most likely knowing goons. (could be wrong but thats what I am hearing)

Masses of low level dudes running around and taking control of the map should be some fun times.

If anyone reading this is on the fence go make a trial and try it out. I think the big Blob of NEX will break into smaller corps in a week or so most likely and the chaos that will ensu fighting wise makes the sub worthwhile for that alone lol.

Gonna go get back in my lil bot which I just upgraded with 2 t-1 machine guns weeee and go own some face......(once I figure out how to get there :) and where there is  is actually located :)P

Coming from flying Black Op's Maruaders and HI's this is some fresh and fun gameplay.

Wish I woulda known about this game ealier honestly, EvE is fun and if CCP unplugs themselves from their 4th point of contact I might resub (doubtful but who knows) Irregardless Ill be playing this more than EvE anyway. It is nice being at the early stages of a games lifecycle again.

Been playing with full account the last 3 days, and have to say this game is pretty awesome so far. It reminds me of Eve back in 2004-2005 in the sense that there's a sandbox world there where almost anything goes, and the devs seem to have an idea of what the endgame will consist of, but the game is too new (just like in Eve, there were no outposts, sov, pos warfare, moon mining, etc back then in nullsec), and that is just fine with me.

It is really cool to get in on the ground floor of a new game that has potential, especially with the low server population right now as it means we all get a chance to talk to devs/gm's and give them some direct feedback. The massive infusion of Eve players lately is going to be good for the game, as some of the older players have said that PO was getting a bit stale with such low population (seems the same corps have been fighting each other repeatedly, which is good, but it is better when plenty of new potential enemies show up and breathe some life into a game).

Still issues to be worked out, as again, the game is very young, but for most of us Eve players, it is a new second home, hopefully to become a first home. It is definitely a lot of fun, and I'm not even out of the noob areas yet.

This makes me sad, because I'm wasting my 15-day trial while they fix the servers.

Keep us updated BoyC, when things are stable I plan to start my trial =)

I just wanted to note though, that CCP drove off EVE players with bad business practice. Up until the Fearless newsletter, the two MMOs keeping me busy were Rift and EvE. Very different games, but I like what they both have to offer. Trion however has been earning points for going the extra mile to keep subscribers happy; free server transfers just being the most recent and notable as most games would charge about $15 for this service.

Point being, don't forget this mass exodus from EvE. We're your bread and butter, our sub money should be enough. Once you go charging us $60 for a pixelated monocle and plan to sell ammo and game changing crap on top of that, we will turn our backs on you.

They said in a recent forum post that they would be compensating all accounts for the issues that have been occuring.  I would expect that current trial accounts will be extended by that same period as well.

In 2005 Titans were introduced as well as caps and super caps and all you talked about was already in game :-P

Imo, Perpetuum isn't even like EVE at release in 2003, it isn't anything like EVE at all. Unless they heavily revamp the game or introduce some new core mechanics, it will never gain the complexity to cross the edge of 'just a PVP game'.

But then, I hear most 0.0 players are quite simple(shoot ask later :) in mind so they will most likely enjoy the game :-P

Wow, this I did not know. Trion definitely won points with Fungus tonight.

Once the issues are fixed we'll probably be extending the game time of all accounts - only question at this point is by how much, that depens on how long it takes for us to sort things out.

Not saying you are wrong, since I am not sure and didn´t play EVE for a long time. But if I remember correctly, in 2005 there were barely Battlecruisers...or was it Command Ships?

I think higher tier BC and BS were released later but all said was already there. In fact vast majority of what you see today was already there - just 2 years after release.

The early years were focused on core game mechanics, the development was massive and fast.

One would say, EVE is not what it used to be, hehe.

    Downloading Perpetuum now.

I won't be Bio-Massing my EVE Posse just yet but I'm due for a change.

By the way, the problem was fixed (there's a devblog entry about it) and the player cap was removed. The server doesn't lag at all anymore. The server was at a peak of 800 players tonight ... so a huge improvement. I can only recommend this game to others. The developers were very communicative and easy to reach, and it was clear to us every step of the way that the server issues were completely unexpected by them. Additionally, they've add four days of extra time to our subscriptions. Is that great service or what?

So far the dev and gm interaction, communication, and response has been exceptional. In fact, I might go as far to say that it's the best I've ever experienced in an MMO. Very promising.

  • VendethielVendethiel Member Posts: 9

I would have to agree, the Devs seem to really care and have enjoyed the small time that I have been playing it.  It is very promising.  Some parts not as polished, but I do like robots and that is what attracted me to it.  NEver had really given it a go prior to falling out of harmony with the Eve dev responses.  Definately will stay for a while.

  • sadeyxsadeyx Member UncommonPosts: 1,555

Ive chatted to devs and GM's personally,  they may take a few moments to respond but thats much better than a petition system.

They dont try every avenue of argument to not compensate either,  if there has been problems they'll give you stuff back straight away,  and they gave everyone (including trial accounts) 4 more days without the need of a public letter or threadnaught.
