The rumor spreading like wildfire on the good old internet is that Monolith no longer cares to be in the business of running an MMORPG, and that they are discussing having Sony Online Entertainment take over the operations of the Matrix Online.

Despite the fact that there are various posts like this in various forums I'll respond here anyway.
There are some quite lengthy posts about this over on the official MxO forums and there haven't been any comments regarding it from mods/devs/etc. The MxO forums don't move all THAT fast so it's fairly reasonable to believe that someone there has read the posts. To me it seems that the longer they're quiet the more likely it is that the rumor is indeed true and that SOE will be taking over MxO.
Guess we'll see.
