I think the problem with wow today is that its running out of ideas and options, you hit the nail on the head when you pondered the thought, do raiders just raid for the sake of raiding, actually all they raid for is the gear, its got nothing to do with story, or challenge their both just obsticles in the way of the raider whos just there to kill the thing and get the loot.

WoW really needs to start adding more to its end game, its been years and they still have no player housing, no guild castles , no guild pvp their pvp is half ass and very rsp.

and to be honest I dont think they care, their now fully under way on their new mmo, all their doing with wow now is keeping it moving with fresh(not new) content so that players have another carrot to go after, and all of this just to hold onto its players so when its new mmo's ready they can drop it on them.

what really bothers me, is that their new mmo is going to follow the same game mechancis, the same architecture and the same systems, blizzard have not learnt anything, all they know is that if they make it stupid easy, cater to the masses and make their game shallow millions will play it, so I dont see them making any improvments in the genre.

thank god for games like Tera, Archeage and a few others that are really starting to stick their necks out and say, hay just giving em loot isnt enough we need more to our games.

I disagree with those saying people in WoW raid for the gear and nothing more? my guild only two weeks ago downed Nelf and there by clearing all raids currently in the game, and we have not even hit hardmode raids yet.  We do it for the experience and the whooping and cheering on vent when we finanly down a boss for the first time.  Loot is never our drive and never will be.

Bring on firelands my 10man will be hitting that tomorrow and look forward to the spending many an evening beating the encouters and having a good time.

I think Blizzard has done some irreperable harm to WoW with the release of Cataclym. The sharp change in format and difficulty threw a lot of customers. The lack of anything really new and interesting made those who stuck it out through that change get bored. Once you get bored with an MMO its very difficult to get interested in it again instead of just trying a new MMO, of which there are hundreds.

Honestly the next time i play a Blizzard game it will be Diablo III. The next time i play a Blizzard MMO it will be the super secret MMO they have in development. Im done with WoW, the glory days are long passed and for me the game has transitioned into an endless sea of pointless busy work with no significant payoff.

What could bring me back? Thats a tough one.

    A new class?

    A new faction?

    A refocus on PvP?

But these are all personal wants, and while they would make the game more appealing to me they might make it very unappealing to others. Theres no way to fix WoW for some without breaking it for an equal or larger group of others. Thats why a huge population and a reputation as being #1 are double edged swords.

I think that MMOs as a whole have a broken concept of what "quest" really means.

Being on errands and making delivereis are not quests....they are tasks at best.

Furthermore, Discouraging group questing has to change. WHen I had quested with 1 or 2 people and the task was to obtain a certain number of drops based on a mob's drop rate. then the number of drops increases by the number of people questing. So, if 3 of us are to obtain 10 rat tails each, then that is 30 rat tails the grou has to collect.........LOLWAT???? The group should only need to collect 10 and everyone gets credit. Obvously, loopholes need to be closed but the point remains, reward, don't punnish group questing.

WoW and games like it were nice a few years ago when I enjoyed the raid grind but now it's just 'old' been there, done that, had the  t shirt stolen by an ex. I'm ready for something new. Although I will play TOR as I've been a Star Wars fan since I saw A New Hope in 1977 I know end game will be the same as the rest... I'm hoping The Secret World will bring something new to the table.

Yah they have PvP but I don't always want to pvp.

I have the itch to go back and play my Dwarf warlock or my wargen priest but the truth is I'm also debating EVE because it has minor avatar support now and to be honest I've been waiting years for EVE to do that.

Too bad raiding was and is WoW's niche. they have un parrelled boss mechanics and it seems to be a lot tougher bringing back that old BC feeling we've all missed. I think the renew of ragnaros is an attempt to bring back some old players to the game.

as EVE goes.. too bad they are implementing a item shop to buy stuff that makes you better than everyone with real money. like instant skill queues and such.. No thanks .

Amazing how unsubstantiated rumors get twisted into "facts."  This statement is just not true.  It might happen "one day", but then the world might end "one day" as well.  Play for today folks, let tomorrow take care of itself.

Blizzard ran out of new ideas several years ago and have been largely retreading ever since.  Rebuilding the old world was a great idea, except that the leveling curve was reduced so much I flew right through it all and within a month found myself at the part of WOW that I hate, end game raiding and gear grinding....and away I went.

The problem with being successful is that it is very hard to take huge risks.  Only when a game starts to dwindle are the devs free to take huge gambles.   When you are sitting on a huge cash cow, the only thing you can really do is add ´more of the same´ because people obviously enjoy it.  WOW will never pull an NGE or  UO-AOS while it is still going strong.   So us players can expect the same thing.. alternating raids one patch, with 5mans the next.   They also realize that a lot of players like to quest, so expect more daily hubs.  Those things are safe... those things are not going to shake the 11M pound gorilla.  Yeah, more hardcore players will burn out a few months after each patch.. but they have ALWAYS done that... ever since vanilla a lot of hardcore players would quit once the content was on farm, then return for the next patch.

While the Troll dungeons were pretty éasy´for the devs..  very little new artwork, especially the maps.  Firelands is completely different from molton core.  Yes, it is fire themed, and yes it has the same named end-boss.  But all of the artwork, including gear, maps and most mobs are completely new.  it is definitely not like ZA, ZG and Oynxia

WoW isn't going anywhere for a long time. My guess is that after 1 more expansion cycle they will add F2P / microtransactions as they release their next MMO.

But i too quit shortly after Cata. I did enjoy leveling and the new zones but only 5 extra levels after dropping that path thing they were talking about was pretty disappointing and the endgame didn't grip me at all.

Also this will sound funny but i'm a lore guy and the changes they did to the lore in Cata (the new unlikeable leaders and especially alliance getting royally screwed in the lore) kinda made me lose my connection to the game.

It's like "here's what happened" and i'm like "wait a minute i was playing this game, that's not what happened ! where was i when all this shit was going on ?". It didn't "follow" at all from all that went before and it's a shitty thing to have a two faction MMO and right in the middle of it for some random writer guy to decide in the lore that one faction is losing and is crap at everything without giving the players a chance to win or lose themselves.

wow these days pretty much has what vanilla wow player were asking >everything?nope one feature is missing server balance, check thrall quest ,horde whine, ally whine, basicly thrall quest line is epic once you reach the elemental part but if you are the faction owning the server it will be boring (not enough of the opposite faction, and this is one bone blizzard will not fix because their solution always involved instancing (the other way)so if you want to do thrall like a war zone ?maybe this can happen but changing the mecanic to balance faction without changing how it is right now?that wont happen, blizzard doesnt want these they want their arena thing they want their pvp thing to work so pvpve part in thrall and other new pvpve content in  there is only to be able to say it is in the game!and true it is awsome and it is there but on most server it is insanelly unbalanced

The new patch sounds interesting and I would love to return and give it a try but it is a shame that Blizzard doesn't take gold farmers seriously as that is what finally drove me away after having played from Day One. Towards the end I report 8 to 10 bots each day and while I would get emails and the occaisional GM would log on and talk to me the bots would continue to run doing the same things the same way in the same places day in and day out.

WoW may not be as full of bots as Eve Online but it is certainly headed that way.

What a damn shame this game has become, Here's to hoping blizz can revive themselves with a new game

QFT.  WoW has become a sparkle contest, nothing more.

The introduction of the Death Knight proved that everything about WoW's original game, is nothing more than a means to get from point A to point B.

Yes, you need to have done it at least once, but that applys to me, the player. There's nothing in the entire content of the original game that is necessary for any characters.

This means that WoW is nothing more than it's current patch.

I just like alt-o-holicness of WoW...I like the low and the high content....rarely do I raid.  Many people I know in the game are the same.  Of course I am not like many in MMO's it seems.  I am not driven to be better than others with my shinies.  I still get excited when I get a neat low level item that I never got before.  I just laugh at the high level people in any game that think they are cool or something because they have a lot of end game shinies.  Frankly I could careless about their progression I am in it for my personal development and achievement.

How is it molten core2? The only boss who is there from MC is Rag and we are confronting him in his home of the Firelands as it goes with the lore and story. I also actually like the new molten front and dailies and Thrall chain. They were really enjoyable. The asthetic of the Firelands is pretty neat as well. You guys sure give WoW a hard time.

Got resurected by a friend 3 days bewfore 4.2 hitted.

But its still the same old do your daily quest - dungeon - raid and logof.

nothing realy changed and they cant ever fix this bad expansion no patch can do it.

game is dumbed down so much even a blind monkey can play it.

Not going to resub, had enough of the fail developers who are left in charge of wow.

The easy factor is relative to the person playing. WoW is one of the easiest MMOs imo... Raids basically have the same mechanics and a lot of people in PvP are mouth-breathing tards. The only "hard" part about this game is 2.4k and up PvP.

the release of 4.2 has been a diaster for me. after having bought a new computer for cataclysm, with a vid card that would allow me to play at the ultra vid settings, all of a sudden with 4.2 i cant even hardly move in game anymore. the game IS barely playable at much lower vid settings BUT it ticks me off every second i'm playing, knowing what it should look like and seeing this gray foggy crap i see at the lower settings.

and thats the thing .. apparently they've changed the vid requirements!  and its not like i have any choice. i decided BEFORE i bought cata to get the new puter for wow. i based my purchase decsion on the requirements listed on the cata box i bought at best buy. but now wth? i have to go buy a new vid card to continue playing wow at the vid level that makes me happy?!

i already did what blizz asked for me to play wow. i bought a new freaking computer for wow!.

i wouldnt mind if they came out with a new box at the stores i could look at and decide if i wanted to upgrade my system to play wow, but for this 4.2 PATCH to come along and force me to upgrade after i already bought cata and the computer for it (and it all worked perfect at ultra vid seetings till 4.2) infuriates me!

i mean wth? changing the requirements AFTER i bought the game and the new computer!

i want the money back i spent on that cata box at best buy! they've made the game unplayable for me and have basically stolen my money i spent on cata.  the took my money and then took away what i paid for.

    freaking stupid donkeys!

i've put up with alot playing wow, from blizz not getting stuff right the first time on patches and stuff (you'd think they have enough money to test properly) to the endless crap in trade chat and the attitude of, what seems to me, the majority of wow players who are, imo, jack-donkeys. i mean geez folks addons that tell you what to do is NOT skill.

but ya know. i could deal with those things as i cussed at my screen over some jack-donkeys behaviour or another broken quest.

BUT enough is enough i will not  put up with this degradation of my visual enjoyment of the game. especailly after i spent all that money to have it run on ultra vid settings.

    screw you blizz

    freaking stupid donkeys!
