hey guys. ok before i even start these questions i want to please ask all people that might feel that they must flame against world of warcraft in my thread please dont. im just here to ask a few questions. i am buying world of warcraft today and have some questions.
1. i dont really understand the class/ race thing. does this mean that i can pick any race that i want and then pick a class?
2. if the above is true than i would like to be a night elf and then be either a mage or paladin.
3. also, can the paladin do damage spells?
4. the last thing is, well i started a thread asking if i should get this game and then the one guy said that my computer was good enough to run the graphics on low or medium graphics. are medium raphics still pretty good? and how do i switch it to medium?
please try and answer all my question. ( even though #2 isnt a question lol )

The highest level is 60.
There isn't an alliance server or horde server. It is the same world, you start out questing in different areas. Eventually you start questing in common areas.
The PvP server looks exactly like other servers but certain areas are contested (where the other side can fight and kill you. ) On a PvP server in your starter area, no one can attack you unless you attack first.
There is an arena where you can even fight and kill your own side. It looks like an arena.
Yes. Note that depending on your race, some classes will be closed to you. Every class can be done by more than one race, but every race has classes it can't do.
Erm, mage and paladin are two classes that are closed to night elf. In fact, paladin is very restricted, only humans and dwarves can become paladins. If you want to be a night elf, your available classes are warrior, rogue, priest, hunter, or druid.
Yes, but it's pretty limited (except when fighting undead, which you can Exorcise). Paladins are more into buffing and healing.
You can choose a variety of video options from the menu; the manual can help with this. I don't run the graphics at top of the line myself, and I think they still look pretty good.

You two will not be able to play together, but you can have several characters on each server and there are several servers.
As far as I know, you have to play the same side if you choose characters on the same server. You can't play a horde character and your brother an alliance character on the same server if you are sharing an account.
No, you can have a horde and a alliance character on the same account and the same server
I have a Night Elf (alliance) and a Undead (Horde) on my same account and i havent had a problem yet.
You can have more then one character on any server, but you cant have a horde and an alliance character on the same server.
About the quests, yes you can do quests until you reach level 60, although in your late 50s you might have to start grinding until you reach lvl 60.
You can have both on a PVE or RP server but not the PVP ones.
