Considering playing this. Questions.

I'm a mecha fan and have been burned by mecha MMOs in the past (Age of Armor, Exteel).  I am interested in this game, but am wondering about the actual mechas themselves- they all seem to look like weird spider-legged mecha.  Can you customize your mechs?  Can you make humanoid-based mecha?  Just the option of being able to do this would make me play.

Thanks.

"mechs" is a wrong description for PO

They are "robots" which come in all shapes and sizes, some have legs, some have wheels some have traction belts like tanks..

The "mechs" in the game are a class,  You get Mech and Heavy Mech and they do indeed walk.

As for customisation, well as you put fittings onto your bot these fittings have a model.  so you can customise the way it looks buts thats more to do with customising your bot to do certain things.... like tank, or dps or EWAR.  You can even build them to have large AOE explosive damage when they go kaboom.

But mechs require quite alot of skill points, so initially you will be in smaller spidery looking bots.

Thank you for the reply.  You refer to them as robots- does that mean they aren't piloted?

    Correct!

They are remotly operated, so when you die all you lose is the bot and its contents, nothing else.

We are basically developing the planet and exploiting its resources for energy hungry Earth.   There will be terraforming, player owned structures and ways to donate energy to send back to earth for rewards.   These rewards will include(but not limited to) other cosmetic customisations like changing your bots paint job.  (and paint jobs do lose their paint the more combat they experience over time)

but its heavily mmo based, you really do need to do things in squads of players and help corp production etc.

Thanks again.  I'm downloading the trial and will give it a try.  I'm either going to play this or Black Prophecy- whichever I enjoy most will get my time and money.

I am a mech fan to. I love this game. Free 15 day trial, try out and play it. My advice I would join a corp channel and ask questions the skill factor very complex. Pve you a wide range of mission: transporting, combat ( bounty hunting, destroy and recovery, military recon) mining  and few others. Get bored with all that you can also do artifact finding or crafting. Pvp, Perpetuum has two types of island alpha and beta. Alpha (6 islands) open world non pvp starting island you can pvp but both players must force flag. You can't flag and attack someone, both players must be flag. Beta (6 islands) open world pvp if you teleport to a beta island you got 15 secs or so protect unless u move or active a module.  Hope this help good luck see you in game.
