Quoting from a games community about another game...
Also beta testers just received a email regarding the recent problems with the game, heres a bit of it:
"We would like to apologize to all the testers who had experienced difficulty this past week getting into Irth Online. We are happy to announce that most if not all of the issues that testers were experiencing have been resolved.
We greatly appreciate your patience this past week as we addressed issues and reached resolutions.
It is the intent of Magic Hat Software to provide an exceptional MMORPG environment with an outstanding customer service program that will enhance and optimize your online game experience.
We prioritize your testing experience as paramount. Our goal is to engage in a relationship with you that will surpass your expectations through prompt service and attention. "

Just to add...The release date on mmorpg.com is fake as stated by devs...it has been stated this game will not be released in a month and never was ment to be released in a month...graphics has been promised a complete revamp in not so distant future.
and athlon 1900+, 256mb memory and geforce3...no offense but that's kinda ancient computer and no future games will run well with it.
plus if you look in dictionary and find the word beta...it's only meaning is unfinished....it's the large megacorporations that messed up the term by using their open betas just to demo the product.

Always wondered what happened to the geforce 3 : they just went straight to geforce 4 after the xbox used geforce 3

They couldn't get the shaders work as they wanted with Geforce3 and because of that the actual benefit between geforce3 and geforce2 was quite small...that's why they kind of scrapped geforce3's and started to work on Geforce4's.
Geforce3 gives awful performance in any game that uses shaders heavily.

I have to say I completely agree... First impressions can kill, especially considering their release date is slated for early next month. I have an athlon xp 1900 with 256 ram, and a geforce 3 TI 200 and I can barely run the game... I have to turn all the settings down. Not to mention the game just looks really bad...
I do agree that it's a pretty crappy MMO (being someone whose played them for a long time), but I just can't help but say your system is horrible. I wouldn't expect the latest games to run at anything BUT their lowest settings, and even then I wouldn't expect most of them to run on your machine.
Basically, don't bash a game in that area, until you get a decent rig -- heh. I think I had a computer similar to that 5 or so years ago.
I've never had any problems with any games but Irth actually... WoW ran fine, Horizon's ran fine, Guild wars runs fine... HALF LIFE 2 runs fine (not highest settings, middle settings). I can run every game fine but irth. I mean I'm not saying I can run them perfectly but... I can run them to a point where if I put the settings down to a certain degree, I can compete with everyone else as if i had a decent rig and had the nice graphics. This is the first game I actually had to leave after an hour of trying it because it simply just wouldn't run effectively it was that bad.
Kind of reminds me of shadowbane's engine. I have to play the game on minimum settings to effectively play, but at least I can play shadowbane :P Yet the graphics suck on SB too...
The point for posting this is to make a point that games shouldn't go open beta unless they're ready and in the stage to go open beta. Regardless of what beta means, there are so many people who look at the concept of a game and say hey I want to play this and it's free because it's open beta so I'll go check it out... then they find out it's not anything playable, or it just plain sucks and then it's all down hill from there... they tell their buddy, and so on... Like me posting on here. I might have liked it more had it been more playable on my system. I do feel kind of bad, I thought I had an average system for the majority of users out there... but I guess not.
I guess when you signed your NDA that was only for as long as you wanted to beta test it?
You kids need to learn that beta testers have a responsibility and the responsibility is not your own pleasure. Beta's are not free trials. You have a responsibility to the community to give the developers your opinion and to report bugs. You have let all gamers down in breaking your agreed to NDA. To see an MMORPG.COM staff member break the NDA is another serious matter all together. Say bye bye to your beta.

i cringe reading this thread, just thinking more and more of these idiots are clamoring to get into every beta there is. (which most of them seem to think means: free game/oppurtunity to get uber before others)
yes it is possible that all the big mmo's destroyed the idea of open beta. That beta should be known even if it's open as just a testing period and not a trial period. When you play something like this, you ask yourself... is it really going to change that much? I may have over reacted and I'm sorry, since I didn't realize that the release date mentioned on here was wrong. I figured mmorpg.com did their homework... I am sorry about that as well. However, I still ask myself... is it really going to change or will they be like every other mmorpg out there who releases a game that should still be in beta? I mean I don't know one MMO that released without a butt load of problems at release... I think due to development budgets that if you don't prioritize right you're going to be screwed because yo ucan't spend more time then you originally planned or you'll run out of money. Some AAA games are expected to cost around 30 million dollars to produce, so when an mmo says "I think we need 6 more months of production..." that's something investers don't want to hear... and usally gets released regardless just to soak up some monthly payments to help keep afloat.
FOr your info, I don't go into beta's thinking I'm going to power level and figure out what to do when the game launch's. I actually go in to see how they do things, gather idea's, etc... I've been in a LOT of beta's, and none as horrid as this. Like I said it killed my system and was virtually unplayable (actually my computer restarteda few times because of it), but the graphics were on par with shadowbane in my eyes... and I can run WoW, or any of those other new MMO's just fine. I expected more since it is in open beta and not closed... my expectations of what open beta is is different than that of closed. I can understand now though, why it is that way thanks to you guys pointing out that they decided to open the game up and try a more open testing approach. I understand, and I'm sorry for posting this now I didn't see that when I joined up... but I still think it was a bad idea.
One thing I cringe at are people who call others "kiddies" because they don't think like they do. Just because I have different idea's, perhaps wrong idea's... doesn't mean I'm a lesser being in any way than you, you egotistical pricks. I just see things in a different light, and you blow off that because my opinions are so different. Why not help me see the light? Obviously if I saw it your way, and your point of view was already in my head I doubt I would have posted this in the first place if it was such a brilliant idea? You can't make choices without knowledge.
Kishe, you stated that the release date is fake? Where and when did the devs say this? Got a link? Is it somewhere on the Irth forums? It would be good for Magic Hat to set the record straight or MMORPG to fix the error.

it has nothing to do with your ideas or what you think that we get mad at.
it has everyting to do with you guys agreeing to the nda , which ya did, and then jsut throwing it out the window if you dont like where the game is at.
i could care less what you think of this game, but really you did agree to it that is the whole point of nda's to keep free demo people from not likeing unfinished games and bashing it all over the net.

Your hardware is probably part of your problem. I've never played Irth and don't know much about it. Seeing as it's not yet live, I would judge that it's probably going to be alittle more up to date than Donkey Kong. Unfortunately, your system isn't quite as up to date as Irth is likely to be. I don't know how horrible they are at developing, and I don't doubt they probably have some issues, but before adding to blame, check your own hardware before complaining.

I never really thought of it that way, which is why I ended up posting this. Had people not resaulted to bashing me for my ignorance, and instead have pointed this out it might have clicked sooner. I'm sorry for that, it was my mistake to post this. Can a mod please close this thread?

While I applaud your immediate response to my question ...you however didn't answer it. You seem to be someone in the "the inner Irth circle" by your claim that the July release date on MMORPG.COM is a forgery. This is why I asked you a simple and direct question. There is nothing wrong in saying you do not not know the answer.
If the July release date posted here is phony than why has it not been corrected? Magic Hat seems ok with the "disinformation" otherwise they would have insisted it be changed. If a person does a basic search on the internet there are several references to a July release ...even a direct question to the lead developer Mr. Chipura himself.
"Youre only about six weeks away from launching Irth Online guess you guys must be pretty busy? "
"Thats an understatement! Were doing everything we can to make certain that this game has a successful launch and provides gamers with a rewarding and fun adventure. We have a team of dedicated professionals who, right now, would probably welcome a good nights sleep."
This article is dated June 12th and likely the question was asked a week prior if not a few days. Considering this from a site in the United Kingdom it is possible that the interview could even date as far back as E3 if it was indeed a "face to face" interview. If the question was asked at E3, that would coincide with a release in the first half of July. If the question was asked a week before June 12th, then that make it a mid July release. The point being that here was a question that gave the head developer a chance to clear the air. So it is easy to conclude that Magic Hat intends to release Irth to the world in July.
Perhaps I have missed something. Another article where Magic Hat disputes the July date? An announcement on their own website? In bold on their splash page?

Jonsnow13 was only giving his opinion about the game. He wasn't giving away any trade secrets. Why are you trying to suppress his opinion? You make it sound as if he were Deep Throat revealing some sort of high crime cover-up. I think he's doing the gamer community a favor by telling the community about the state of the game. He hasn't revealed any secrets about the game. If the game is good, he would say that it is good. Is that a violation of the NDA? As so it happens, his opinion of the game is such that it is a bad game. Why are you bringing up the NDA? He hasn't revealed any secrets, so stop making these veiled threats with the NDA. Last I heard, he has a right to free speech.
You make it sound as if he is not fulfulling some sacred duty by your post:
"You kids need to learn that beta testers have a responsibility and the responsibility is not your own pleasure."
Remember, he's agreed to help Beta test the game FOR FREE. You are not paying him, so his only responsibility is to play the game, and to report any bugs that he finds, IF HE CHOOSES TO. He has no other responsibility other than that, unless you are willing to pay him for his time and energy. And what do you mean "not your own pleasure"? You enticed him to sign up for Beta-testing with the implied benefit of the "pleasure" of playing a fun game. That's why hundreds of people sign-up of open beta testing in the first place. If you're going to take this hard line with all your beta testers, then consider paying them for their troubles.
Jonsnow13, don't let this guy convince you that you've let all gamers down by offering your opinion. He's trying to beat you into suppressing your true opinion. He sounds very biased and probably has a stake in this horrible game and it's in his wallet's best interest to stop anyone from saying the honest truth. You've done a great service by telling everyone your opinion of the game. If you had not spoken up, imagine the many people who would have lost money on this game? I think all gamers would thank you for letting us know.
It has become evident that everytime someone say something negative about that "game", he get censored. Dont worry, they will have to go public at one point if they want people to pay for it. Lets just be patient.
I am confused now, when is the release date ? Is there a false PR campaign around this ? Have they just started developement in reality and this wont be released until 2008 ? Will it run on xbox360 instead ? Kishe seems to be an insider, please enlighten us !

It would seem that Kishe prefers not to answer the questions or even defend his claim that MMORPG "made up" a release date for Irth Online. Several posts (some lengthy) show that Kishe has no problem trying to articulate his position. It is interesting to see no REAL answer has been given to support his arguments. Not much of an answer at all actually ...just a cop out. Considering the defense Kishe originally offered, it seems that Kishe is an insider ...a beta tester or perhaps even a developer at Magic Hat? Perhaps we will never know since Kishe seems suddenly shy on the subject.
