Neither of the offers include the standard 30 days free game time. Really not that great deals at all considering you need to pay 15 bucks on top of it to play.
I took the plunge, as this is probably the cheapest it's going to get.
$25 ($10 + a month) for a CE is actually pretty cheap - cheaper than almost all high-profile games that came out recently.
I actually tried Rift out during the beta, and I really wanted to like it, but didn't back then. Maybe now that server communities might have been established it'll fare a bit better.
Im starting with the 7 day trial. Played first night tonight. Already getting the 'aimless' feel to it and it's more of many different things to do for the sake of doing them. Really don't know why, i didn't think the rifts were that amazing. Stopped a 'massive rift' one too and got a purple sourcestone, dunno how lol.
So i'll give it til after weekend, then might buy it. Like others have said, literally sod all out for several months yet.
"Rift appears to be one of the only recent title to take a modicum of wind out of World of Warcraft's sails. It makes sense, then, that Trion would respond to WoW's new free-to-play mode with an offer of its own: namely, the temporary markdown on the Rift client to a measly $4.99.
Discounts available through July 6. Standard Editions include 30 free days of game time.
Rift Digital Trial Upgrade Edition (PC) -- $4.99, down from $24.99 Rift Digital Trial Upgrade Collector's Edition (PC) -- $9.99, down from $34.99 Rift Digital Standard Edition (PC) -- $19.99, down from $30.99 Rift Digital Collector's Edition (PC) -- $24.99, down from $40.99"
Game Client: Access to the complete RIFT game via downloadable client.
DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY COMPLIMENTARY GAMEPLAY TIME. Credit, debit or game time card will be required to begin gameplay and pay the monthly recurring subscription fee.
Whatever the cost, the trial upgrade is £9 or $15 cheaper, i.e. the cost of the sub lol. So it's a pointless purchase and may aswell get the regular.

Well that makes absolutely no damn sense. It's shady, even.
It makes a little sense, albeit pointless. $5 upgrade lets you play past the trial restrictions for your remaining time, then you most buy a sub(which with the current Rift price = cost of the regular game at that point)

Now you say it like that, guess it does, as i am lvl 10 after my first night, so after tonight it will be upgrade or stop. Though, again, it's alot for the extra 4-5 days of the trial if i don't get sub on top lol.
This is also a way to get your refer a friend mount for 15bucks, not bad at all. All it requires is a purchase, not a friend subbed for another month like a lot of games require.

Trion appears to be getting desperate.

Lol it is $19.99 and $24.99 if you want to actually play the game I think it is a shifty marketing ploy IMO.
Rift client temporarily marked down to $5
"TO MICHAEL!"

They only allow a max level of 15 on the trial account. That is a shame since the game play and classes do not get interesting until after level 20.

When i go to Rift summer sale it says 24 Euro and on your link 11 Dollar. 11 dollar is much cheaper... why does it say different things?
