General: PlanetSide 2: Classified Info Coming July 7th

Sony Online Entertainment has officially launched the PlanetSide 2 site. Additionally, SOE has launched the PlanetSide 2 Facebook page with the information that there is "classified" information coming on July 7th.

O.o, looks like they are going somewhere with this, hopefully it wont be gimped to some kind of CoD MW and they stick to what the original mechanics provided and enchance from there. Will be nice to see the direction this is going in, and about time they released information and footage.

I really am getting annoyed with announcements for announcements I am de-sensitized you could say. I will play what is out if its not out then good luck with the hype wagon cause I won't be joining. SOE have a history of delays and changing their mind regarding important things they have stated.
5 bucks it will be a "revolutionary, high fantasy mmofps" with lots and lots of elves, dwarves and lush landscapes with lots of castles and dungeons - since that is all the hype nowadays

Everyone knew that this would have a sqeual sooner or later, it's just to good to not to make one.
If it gets released at all it will be pushed out early and it will suck just like everything $oe.
How can it be pushed out early when they've already delayed it? And shutdown other studios and games to funnel resources into two games, planetside being one of them.
They are banking on both Planetside and EQ Next. They will certainly get the time and resources they need. We just have to hope they are making the right decisions.

SOE need to hire a marketing firm..it's still scary how many people have never heard of the original Planetside let alone #2. With some strong marketing (and obviously game design) this could be the right time for the franchise to do well. (although i did think 2003 was also the right time lol).
Im guessing they will give us some basic info, a trailer, and then no release date. We'll wait 4 years and gamersfirst will buy it.
Loved Planetside when it first released so they better not make Planetside 2 some bullshit lobby game with arena style matches. I want to see large scale battles, but it is SOE so I'm not holding my breath.
I don't think SOE shut down studios and fired 1/3 of their staff in effort to boost EQ3/PSNext staff. I think they had to cut costs, because their porfolio of games are not making as much money.
Being in a desperate situation doesn't by any stretch of the imagination mean SOE is somehow going to give their current projects enough time and resources that they need. I can't actually think of one game SOE has released that would fall into that classification.
There is always hope though.
It wont matter how good it is, if they mismanage the way they did the original Planetside.
They had something huge at the time, and then ruined it, a common pattern for SOE...
OMG, the MMO genre may actually deliever something which is not generic trash or broken experiments at our costs.
Hopefully it has gameplay more or less similar to the original (albeit with a lot more variety).
If it ends up being something like MAG I will be horribly disappointed.
Can't wait to see what SOE has cooked up for Planetside Next. Hopefully they also give us some solid information on EQ Next at the fan faire.
