I downloaded the Free Trial. The game isn't too bad but I have terrible lags. Have heard the game does lag quite a bit anyhow but maybe it's a question of RAM aswell. Well I have 2x256/333, how much RAM and what kind of system in general does one need to run it smoothly?

Sweet, Just Sweet
Weird, how come I lag then real bad with 512mb?
Im running off a laptop and it runs smooth for me... I don't know what to tell you.
Could also be your connection speed and/or your location. Also, the connection speed of those around you can cause lag. I get more lag if I party with someone in another part of the world, and if they're on a modem, it can be a real problem, because their movement data has to be transmitted to the server, then to me, then back to the server, then back to them, and so on.

Well thanks for replies anyway. Am on DSL but am playing from Europe, I suppose that might be an issue too. Have ordered another stick of 512MB, if that doesn't help it might just be a hardware conflict on my part, have had similar problems before so that seems quite possible.
ja 4 us european players the lag is sometimes a real problem. u can reduce the lagg by turning down some effects ingame! tipp: disable 2 the grass that helps alot!
Im Amazed..... NOT!!!
The best way to reduce lag is to optimize your connection and dump as much as possible in the game itself. This will require you to know TCP/IP and how connections work. Turning off grass will not yield you any benefit unless the reason you slowdown is because your framerate is too low.
It doesn't help because the map and textures are always in your folder. Its having insufficient upload and having too many hops to go through to reach the server which lags you.
To play any online game you need to have 160kbps for the game itself for upload, which traslates to 20k which is modern day max client rate in servers unless you look at Doom 3, which is 65k (520kbps) allowing next generation connections worldwide to have players with under 20 ping between continents.
RYL System Requirement:
Operating System: Windows 95/98/ME/2000/XP
Processor: Pentium II 400 MHz
RAM: 128 MB
I don't think so.
When I ran tests on different systems, the low end system I used, which was completely optimized was a
P3, 500mhz
192MB RAM w/ windows XP set to start up on 16MB of RAM and a decent video card.
The game wouldn start and would be playable for around 5 minutes, then the game would crash. In those five minutes the framerate would be horrible to the point its unplayable and the game would freeze in PvP.
i did experience lags while playing RYL.....but im still playing the game....and i think no matter what game u are playing laggers are always there...
P2P is good but i need free games
im a bit late in this disscution but better late then never.. the Minimum requirements is not, PII 400, 1.5GB HDD, 128MB RAM even tho they may say so in the officail Ryl site... I would say 1Gb of ram atleast rather more and 2Ghz Cpu++++ ATI9800XT/ Nvidia5950Ultra for a smothly game play and now im thinking about the pvp in the arena and in map 3 also... hehe just think about it ur in map 3 its about 170 players there sum are exping others are pvping then its gonna be laggy like hell if u go whit this PII 400, 1.5GB HDD, 128MB RAM lol its like u have a high lvl char and then u face 1 other and he has a better computer then u have and then what ? well ill tell u he dosent lagg at all and when u try to hit he leaves u coz ur DEAD so i say if ur gonna pvp and play the game for what its worth this is what i think the requirements should be :: 1Gb Ram (if u can get more) 2Ghz++++ ATI9800XT/ Nvidia5950Ultra 256mb card then if u still lagg ill let u play on my pc .. Tho make sure u have a good connection also if not u may experiance lagg..
