Too bad the gameplay isn't as dramatic and action packed as they portray in the cinematics.
Part of the reason -many- people love EVE is that the actual risk involved in the combat can give you one hell of a rush. Potentially losing a lot of ISK in one blow. That's what I loved about PvP in old games, and EVE can give me that feeling all over again. Knowing your ship may blow up, and whatever possibly expensive fittings you've got are going to be gone, as well as the risk of being pod killed. It can be intense at times depending on the situation.

Yeah...it is sorta, well it is, misleading. If the game was twitch based it would be like what is depicted in the video. But we that play EVE no better. The frigs that they showed diving in and out of Amarr ships pulse laser fire was not how it is in game. You cannot fly a ship like that in EVE...not going to happen. Plus, most people zoom out during fleet battles...so all you see is little green, yellow and red squares flitting about one another in a massive blob against a start background. I know very few who actually zoom in and watch their ship engage another at close range.
If the game did switch to twitch FPS type combat it would surely change the dynamics of the battles(make it more fun), but it would kill the massive fleet battles. That is why CCP can have one shard. They do not have to worry about all the WASD input a FPS type twitch game would require.

Oh I know what EVE pvp is all about(ex NC member). I get that adrenaline rush too, but the game CCP depicts in their CGI trailers is much different than the one I've played over the past two years.

irrelevant to the argument at hand I guess, but I still figured I'd want to point this out. Pulse lasers shouldn't reach 200 km, they would have been using beam lasers =3.

Do any game trailers ever accurately reflect the actual gameplay? None that I have ever seen do.
IMO the trailer does a pretty good job of showing how a newer, lower-skilled player (the guy who brings an interceptor to the armor BS fleet) can make a huge impact on the battle. We see people all the time making claims that newer players are useless in PvP and I think they did a excellent job of debunking that myth.

There are actually some games that make trailers with what you can do in game. Granted, they obviously weren't too great of games if I can't remember any of their names, but they still exist.

Yeah I've seen trailers that have some real gameplay in them, but for the most part when they make a cinematic like this, they exxagarate the game play for whatever reason.
I was just watching cinematics today from a game and they show Jedi powers knocking trees down and Jedi powers that can explode boulders yet my character doesn't have those same powers.
Thats why I never watch cinematics to answer my question: "is this game for me?". I watch gameplay vids on youtube for that. I can then enjoy the cinematics for what they are - 2 minutes of nice or bad

This guy hit the nail on the head for me. EvE is a fun game "at times". I'm a casual gamer and I don't have the time to spend ingame for those fun moments. This is reason I left EvE, and with all the item shop crap going on I looks like I left at the perfect time lol
The hilarious thing about this trailer is that if this happened now, a 50 Supercap fleet would be on top of that and just destroy everything and log off to go back to League of Legends/World of Tanks or w/e.
Also, Gallente ships? what the...

I was there. No, really. Stop hating on CCP, or at least do it for the right reasons, I've been in a couple situations like this. When you actually get a good fight(lol @ cva running last night), it's a bit epic. Also, we all know gallmatar > calmarr :P

In my book the worst EVE trailer released ever...
However, does the trailer imply CCP is going to fix Gallente?
I found it a tad corny. All the time I was thinking about how surely the guy hadn't heard of EVE before appearing in the trailer.

Interesting thought. That would be nice.
The irony is that the "Incarna" part is getting to be the guy talking about the great fight ... to himself.

I kinda liked this one, though.
I enjoyed it actually

Always hating on instances in MMOs! Open worlds, open PvP, territory control and housing please. More persistence, more fun.
