Around six months ago if you told me i would spend two months in Beta (alpha client) and four months subscribed to a game like Rift I would have told you that you were a clueless themepark newb that needs to play a real mmo.
But to my surprise that's exactly what happened.
When this game released I decided to roll a defiant rogue because I knew all the good players would roll guardian so I wanted the challenge. It took me around a month to level, not a month /played but exactly a month to the day head start began.
I found the leveling experience in Rift to be wonderful, the game was filled jam packed with player slaughtering invasion mobs, chat filled with LFG spamm and wow talk and generally it was a great experience.
I hit 50 and joined a "Hardcore-Casual" guild, whatever that means and we had a great time running dungeons, pre-made WF groups and ultimately raids.
So here I am My guild is currently in RoS (3/4) I have a geared out rogue and a fun mid level pvp cleric healer that i use for fun.
But i've decided to leave. Honestly there is nothing wrong with the game. It's a wonderful themepark experience but I can see where the game is headed and honestly im not willing to go down that road again.
Its draining to watch pve progression get nerfed, difficulty get watered down and the game i really enjoy get bloated with stuff I generally dont care about.
Like I said i still think the game is great but it was epic before certain mechanic changes and I refuse to watch it drop even further.
Those that play the game know what im talking about so i dont have to make bullet points here explaining everything.
Sadly now that im officially gone from rift, Im worried that I wont find a game to fill its void...
I mean sure you guys call it a clone a hundred times a day but the unique mechanics in rift like invasions, rift raids and its class system are something other games havent even touched on yet.
How many mmos do you know within the themepark sub genre that actually make open world content interesting?
OH well... It was fun, if u like themepark games i suggest you try it and enjoy the leveling and endgame pve content.
It was a pleasent surprise for me, but its time to go back to some obscure sandbox.
happy hunting

I read your post and this about sums it up.
Happy hunting finding an obscure sandbox game.
Why so condescending?
dont know. this is how this forum is. I post a mostly positive post and someone nitpicks one sentence and responds...
Oh well like i said its a fun game but i enjoyed the dungeon content before 1.2, i liked the plaque dailes before also.
In my honest opinion trion had the dungeons tuned perfectly but then they saw what Blizzard did. Blizzard made heroics too hard and people were leaving so Trion decide to cash in on this and gutted the challenge in 5 mans and then they started increasing the cost of everything so u had to run a dungeon a hundred freaking times for an item.
Like i said i like the game but i see where its going and i choose not to follow.

Agree with OP...Game could have been much better if they stuck to their guns and didn't nerf crap left and right to keep the noobs.
That doesn't make sense. Go back to your troll cave.

it follows blizzard way of doing thigns nerfing making shit easier cus 51% of the subcribers cant seem to kill it.
Try AoC, now that it's free to play I just started it and am having a blast on the new pvp server. It's packed with people.
