I don't feel like playing a game where I afk macro in town 24/7 until I have maxed skills. They can start me off at max skills instead of charging me money to grind.
I guess I'll leave this quote I made on the DF forums 2 years ago.
The length of time required to skill up is not a correlationto how hardcore a game is.
How much time a player risks when they play the game is an indication of hardcore. In DF you lose your gear when you die, you're always at a risk of losing the time you spent accumulating that gear. That is an indication to how hardcore a game is, not the time required botting to reach max skills.
There are plenty of different mindsets regarding this issue, but if you want to spend 10 years hitting yourself over the head with a brick accomplishing nothing, play a korean MMOG. Leave DF to the hardcore gamers.
They have hinted a lot that Darkfall 2 coming up soon will have some major skill changes so that it is not like it is now where you ahve to max everything to compete, but no hard information has been given yet.
Thats the reason I don't return. I cannot accept to pay for a game that requires me to afk grind while I am sleeping and at work. Thats insane.
Too bad. Personally, I just play the game and enjoy the journey that Darkfall provides. Afk grinding while you sleep? Yeah, that's fucking insane alright. One of the reasons you burnt out so quickly. I started playing when it was much more time consuming to skill up, and I never afk'd or macro'd at all.
Ah well, Planetside 2 is coming. Maybe all you folks that have that pesky character progression allergy can finally find a home over there.

Make us care MORE about our faction & world pvp!
We all think DF2 will fix this. DF will finally be a pvp mmo and not linage 3.
So I take it nothing has changed, that's ashame.

You'll be looking at two things for DF2.0.
1.) Armour types, blocking and enhancing different playstyles
Combined with;
2.) Prestiege classes which we don't know how they're going to implement exactly
But overall it comes with the garuntee of limiting what you can use at any given time and severely reducing the grind needed to be competitive.
