Oh no I did, I hate laptops, they are worthless to me, you can't render a CG movie on one in any decent amount of time. Again, go look up something useful like a Mac Pro review, and please read through that.

Get the machine that does what you need it to. Games on personal computers are best run on PC not Mac's. There is no substitute, except for titles on consoles that aren't made/ported to the PC.

Problem is you have to wait for implementation for Linux, I however, did not. Plus, even less runs on Linux than does Mac, including vital graphics software such as, Adobe products, and any viable word processing application, since openoffice is terrible. Maya, is very buggy on Linux unless you have a Production Engineering team behind it for fixes and conforms. Mac works for me for graphics and animation, you can't call its users "hipsters" when it plays a vital role in the film, and graphics industry.

I found that using bootcamp on a brand new imac would run games just fine but they were still sluggish compared to running them on a two year older pc. and that imac was a top of the line 24" beast. I think your best bet, if you can afford it would be to only get as much mac as you need for what ever you are taking in school. Macs are expensive so only get what you really need there and then take any left over cash and get the best pc you can for gaming. A midline pc with a year old graphics card will probably play what ever you want though not on the highest settings. Of course if you already have the mac you may be stuck there. in that case I would just stick with what you have. find a second job for the rest of summer, save that extra cash and buy as much pc as you can for gaming.

I don't do video production or audio editing, so I have no need for a Mac, since that is the only thing I am aware of that they excel at and warrants their price tag. (graphic work comes down to personal preference, so I don't see mac as a big advantage there, but they are not behind either).

It's possible. I'm all for cross-compatibility. I mean, right on, gaming for everyone, yeah? I'm a big fan of Linux though so I have to be a realist about this, it all depends on money, and whether there's a market big enough to justify the cost. In most cases there sadly is not. However, that said, considering that this is being developed to be accessible to older computers, there's a damned good chance that WINE/Crossover will be able to run it.
And if WINE/Crossover do indeed do a good job of running it then that's smashing, no real need for a specific port in that case, but we'll have to wait and see just how well that works out.
Macs have one real purpose and that is multimedia/video editing. (My reason for owning)
Thing with the Mac, if you are just using it for school and gaming, do yourself a favor and buy a PC. PCs are cheaper and unless you NEED a Mac it isnt worth buying.
On Topic: being that GW1 wasnt on Mac, I cannot see GW2 being Mac compitable, at least not at launch.

If you're talking about their tablets yes.. However, if you are looking at their MacBooks and MacBook Pro's, and the Mac Pro then they are basically half the power for twice the price, and we can go to the Apple site to back this up. Also, laptops can't keep up with desktops. Are they getting better? Yes, however a laptop simply cannot contain the power that a desktop holds.

For gaming you simply don't buy a mac.
That aside, macbook pro's are their own category of notebooks. Build quality, haptic and battery life are still unbeaten.
